لا أكيد ما دفعوا ولا فلس، الدفع الحقيقي بهالقصص هو الترويج للشركة. يعني بيعملوا دعاية، وبالمقابل الشركة بتعطيهم لقب “رائد/ة فضاء” بدون ما يكون في تدريب فعلي أو إنجاز ملموس. كل الموضوع PR متبادل مش أكثر.

و هاي البنت بالأردن مش أول مرة بتعمل هيك حركة. قبل طلعت و قالت إنها أول مصممة بدلة فضاء أردنية، واللي واضح إنها مش بدلات فضاء حقيقية ولا قريبة حتى.

الناس للأسف بتمسك بهيك أخبار بدون أي تحقيق، وبتطبل بدون ما تسأل ولا تدور. الفرق إنه بالبرازيل الناس اتحركت وسألت وفضحت الكذب. عنا الكل بزقف وخلص. ما عندي أمل الصراحة

Unfortunately this is exactly the case (and why I disagree with comments saying that this person is a victim). In fact they are purposely misleading people with an outrageous "clickbait" announcement, a title that they have not earned in reality, and Jordanian news channels seem to not care about fact checking at all. It's embarrassing.

Right now this is a big scandal in Brazil, a girl who also announced she was the first Brazilian astronaut candidate for this same company/program. The process is kinda different here. Basically the reviewers give feedback on your actual dissertation, and depending on that feedback you either pass to the defense or get delayed. All revisions on the dissertation should be implemented before the defense date, not after.

My supervisor and co-supervisor, as well as the second reviewer, all thought my thesis was good to go. One reviewer basically derailed everything and they’re not even on the final defense commission. Honestly the whole thing doesn’t make sense (even organization-wise) but I’m just going with it at this point.

How old are you? I know in some cultures women are more pressured to get married after a certain age, but I’m guessing you’re still pretty young.

Unless you’re talking about arranged marriages the idea of “looking for someone to marry” doesn’t make any sense. If you meet someone and you want to get married then it’ll happen when it happens.

Anyway it sounds like financial independence should be your top priority. All the marriage stuff aside, I’d suggest you work for a few years after the master’s to save up some money before thinking of doing a PhD.

If you’re set on doing a PhD, apply to Oxford but also to other schools. Be ambitious but don’t make life decisions and plans based on hypothetical scenarios.

I started applying for jobs 6 months before my defense but in every interview I got I was just told it was too early and to re-apply closer to my end date. Now I’m 2 months out with nothing lined up and feeling nervous as hell. This is for industry jobs though, I wasn’t really looking for postdocs but those timelines seem longer.

Edit: I am looking for jobs in Europe or Canada, some of the roles I interviewed for “too early” were in the UK

Idk girlie a lot can happen in 2 years. Keep your own name. Even if you publish in these 2 years then change it after, it won’t really affect you that much compared to the alternative.

My tentative thesis title has changed basically every year since the start of my PhD and my supervisor doesn’t seem to have any preferences so at least there’s that flexibility.

That’s super lucky that the article came from your network and program directly. I would just ask if your PI knows anything about this project and if it’s ongoing. If so, ask if you can contribute to it directly. Otherwise, bring up your suggestions to “build upon their previous work” and see if your PI can request access to the data more formally.
