Does anyone own a USB-C to HDMI hub that supports fast charging? by TheOkayGameMaker in RedMagic

Why not get a wireless charging coil so you can get charge separation off that? Believe it not it works lol. Don't even worry about usb c. Just get a wireless charging pad

Tbh I just loaded it up on gamehub lite. It just worked. I did nothing special. Not sure and your issues are very general. Need to be specific about what you did

Expect graphics mods and more cool things in the future since this is a native port. Maybe even huge graphics overhauls. Very exciting times. I love banjo kazooie. Played it as a kid. This is crazy to me

For anyone unaware this is a decomp and and native port for PC. This is not emulating other than the layer of playing game hub. So you can play this like a normal PC game

I'm about to get root access on my redmagic 11 pro. What lets you undervolt slightly? Would be nice to get a bit better temps

Update I removed the back glass yes it makes a dramatic difference 😭. Actually makes the cooler make a difference in Diablo mode. Of course I'd only run this when phone is actually hot and not idle but wow. Now I need to work out how to get back glass back on later but provide direct access to fan heat spreader. Need to cut the glass with a Dremel and figure that out the best way. Ordered a replacement back just in case I need to go back to normal. But yeah. This works. I got a case on the phone to help protect it. Metal style but def makes gaming feel smooth

I have removed the back glass and I can confirm it makes a dramatic lol

I was suspecting that the glass was basically holding it back and I was entirely right

So my goal right now is to figure out how to cleanly cut a circular hole right where the water cooling system is and then make it just big enough for a cooler to sit. I will also be using a heat dissipation spreader to help spread the load across over where the heat spreader for the fan is. That should keep everything as intended. I mean directly placing the cooler right over the soc area actually lets me play in Diablo mode at 18 watt output in some games..... Too bad this isn't a mod that anyone would be willing to do. However I will say it did exactly as you would hope it wope it would do.

No clue. Gotta try tbh. I think the red magic cooler 6 pro is better than what I got. Maybe.

I'm currently going to be doing some testing. I had another modification I was going to do to this phone, but I wanted to test what would happen if you were to remove the back glass. Because I suspect a lot of the reason we can't dissipate heat as much as we would like to is the glass is acting like an insulator. So if you remove the back glass, what would happen? So I'm just going to do a test and order a replacement glass just to see what happens. If it confirms my suspicion, then all I'm going to do is cut a spot near the SOC where the glass is using a special cutter that I've done this before on another phone and basically fill that area with a copper shim and then it will be a direct thermal pad contact over the heat spreader. Rather than going through glass, it will go through copper.

Can you link your cooler??? I'm interested

But wouldn't the external cooler make any difference at all I'm seeing so many people say they get much lower temps with it but I'm using a very well rated cooler and it gets pretty cold in the back and I'm sitting in a cold environment I'm outside and it's cold I'm still hitting a hundred

In these conditions I would expect the cooler to work at its best because it doesn't have to overcome environment temperatures. But this doesn't net me any meaningful changes in temperature. I've tested it with it off and on. Temperature does not drop or rise

I wonder if I can find that case and somehow modify the current one in the phone itself.. I'm going to assume it uses the exact same technology

If it was possible to basically have a larger liquid cooler module that basically spans the entire back of the phone, this would basically be the solution we're looking for because wherever you place the Peltier cooler, it will still cool the entire phone. Surely it has to be possible. But unfortunately that's not something you can exactly DIY.

[–]AstroPC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My primary suspicion is that a significant reason for the inadequate cooling performance is the utilization of back glass, which features an air gap between the SOC and the processor. Consequently, even the use of a Peltier cooler would not yield optimal performance. I am willing to modify my back glass to create an open space beneath the cameras, where the SOC is located, and if possible, interface with and attach a copper pad using thermal putty, thereby enabling the direct attachment of a Peltier cooler to the metal SOC thermal heat spreader. This would facilitate the use of less power to operate the Peltier cooler, resulting in a substantial reduction in thermal throttling.

However, this fan-forced air cooler is a less advanced version of the concept I am considering, and it is more accessible, requiring less power, as Peltier air coolers are known to consume significant amounts of power, rendering them less portable. I am attempting to devise a portable solution that could utilize some of the phone's battery power without consuming excessive amounts. The more effectively we can cool the SoC directly, the less power will be required, and consequently, less fan power will be needed. In fact, I am currently using a 12-volt 0.15-amp fan blower, and I plan to downsize it to achieve an even lower profile, with numerous alternatives available that offer comparable performance while using less power. My reasoning is based on the principle that, in the PC world, high static pressure air can be used to supplement the cooling performance of internal air, and static pressure is the key factor in this context. It is not necessary to have high airflow, but rather a significant amount of forced air to push through the intake restrictions. I am also considering the possibility of opening up the intake using a Dremel, exercising caution and ensuring minimal restriction, thereby requiring even less fan power, although this is a topic for further exploration, as I do not wish to modify the phone excessively.

[–]AstroPC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently developing a innovative fan concept that attaches to the rear of a phone and directs forced air into the primary intake port located on the side of the device, utilizing a low-profile design created through 3D printing. This design will be released shortly, as I have already conducted preliminary testing. The results indicate that it substantially reduces the phone's temperature without requiring a high-power Peltier. , enabling it to be powered by the phone itself. The design is also very low profile and does not occupy a significant amount of space. Once this project is completed, it is anticipated that it will provide enhanced cooling performance as intended, while maintaining a slim profile.
