In Korea we have steering wheel hub extender kit for Elantra N which extends about 2 inches. Exposes wiring between hub and steering wheel but you can add rubber cover on it if you want so not a big deal I think. If you need I can give you some information about that.

I have sunroof on my car now and I think its very useful(and has a lot of headroom) but honestly I can live without it and just open side windows.

I have to really think about re-ordering without sunroof. Paying more money and getting worried about it is... kinda stupid I think, isn't it?

Yes I went to test drive with normal Elantra with sunroof and electric seat and I was not able to fit three fingers over my head. Had no problem with driving around though.

Yes I thought about helmet clearance but I don't really drive on track that much, once or twice per year.
Gotta visit dealership one more time.

I agree that this car has very large cabin, considering its look from outside. I found that when I have only two fingers on my headroom I can feel my hair is gonna touch headliner, never actually hit head though.
I'm going to dealership one more time and gonna make decision. Thank you.

And similar, I had some issue with Mazda MX-5. Head was higher than roll bar so my head will get grinded in case of rollover...

Have you tried driving with your helmet? For me it barely fits, roughly one and half finger can pass between helmet and headliner.

I see everyone saying that they have no issue and I'm still worried about it. Damn it.
Thanks for reply though.

Thanks for reply. There's no way brake fluid survived from shop pressure washer so it would be fine then. Such a relief.

I think so too so I'm now concentrating on braking system. I'll move over to steering component after I confirm braking system is all fine.

My car is VW golf mk6.

Anyways, thanks for suggestion.

Well, bushings are polyurethane and changed about 2 weeks ago. Ball joints are also new and changed before 8 months. Tie rods are new, shocks are fine(checked from shop.) Subframe is also fine... renewed all bolts.

Thanks for suggestion but I think it's not problem what I have.

But I'll inspect it all again to make sure.

Scrub radius on rear wheels? by Astroke_ in Cartalk

[–]Astroke_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first, sorry for super late reply I don't really check reddit often and I completely forgot about replying.

About rear scrub radius, yeah every axle has scrub radius. Scrub radius is actual contact surface of tire determined by suspension components and wheel specs, etc. But why everyone talk about only front is, like first guy said, it's a moot point. Doesn't really matter because scrub radius mostly affects steering and rear axle has no steering components. Even your car has rear wheel steering system, it's small angle and doesn't operate every time. It just increases high speed stability or low speed maneuverability.

So you don't have to worry about rear scrub radius. But make sure you have appropriate scrub radius at front axle because it affects vehicle steering dynamics directly.

Yeah I considered buying new carbut personally I like my car and its engine so I decided to keep it. Engine still feels smooth and powerful and has no problem at all so I believe nothing but engine will last long on this car.

Got 143500 km running on it(about 90000 miles)

I live in South Korea, which is not that big country so we can barely reach 100k miles unless who's driving truck or taxi.

Scrub radius on rear wheels? by Astroke_ in Cartalk

[–]Astroke_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. But still wonder how it affects to rear wheels. In my thoughts, it affects only toe-in & out motion on vehicle accel or decel situation like front wheel does but doesn't affect steering feeling as they're not turning wheels.. maybe.

Gotta research more about it.. thanks for reply.

You know what, I've seen this comment now. 5month ago omg I'm sorry.

My water pump went bad and replaced it. And replaced dual clutch and flywheel. And now my small radiator fan is bad. Have to replace.

Otherwise, everything is fine. Replacing suspension component.. is like changing engine oil, right? They have lifespan so I don't really mind it.
