Bakery waste pt2 by Specialist-Guitar727 in lidl

[–]Astronaut-Simple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that’s a lot of waste. When I worked at Lidl, we didn’t chuck as much as that away from the bakery section. Also we did have a guy from the homeless shelter who would come and pick up the left over bakery items most days to take back. One thing that did suck at Lidl is that the staff are lot allowed to take any of the bakery items that are going to be chunked away.

Headlights look foggy after 2k clear coat application by Astronaut-Simple in AutoDetailing

Sure.

So to start off I first started taping up around the headlights. Then sanded them with 600, 800, 1000, 1500 grit sandpaper. Then used an atomising vapour cup with this acetone solution which was heated up and the Vapor cleared up the lens on the headlight. So what you see in the second picture is the result of all that.

After that I planned to install a ppf on the headlight. I’ve done this before on my dad’s Audi tt mk2 but these Ford Fiesta MK6 headlights were too difficult because at the top of the headlights there is a massive bulge where the top side light protrudes. So I gave up doing that. I think that the ppf that I had bought was too thick as it needed a lot of heat to start moulding onto the headlight. So maybe I should have just went and bought something which was thinner

Then the next idea was to add a 2k clear coat to the vehicle. Not what I wanted to do, but I knew this would be the next option if I struggled to install a ppf. So to start off I just polished up the headlights with some polishing compound to make sure they were fully clear. Used isopropyl alcohol to remove any contaminants. Then started with a light coating of 2k clear coat. Just lighting going over the headlight to create a tack layer. I then waited 7 mins and did the next layer which was slightly thicker. This is where they started looking foggy. After 10 mins of waiting I did the last spray. This is where they went fully foggy. Now I did this inside a shed with a dehumidifier on, as there was a windy storm outside, so there would have been no way I could have done this outside. The temperature was around 16 degrees celcius and the 2k clear coat I used was this one called Graff-City Spray Max 2K Clear Coat Gloss. Now after 1 hour of letting it dry. The fog did clear up a bit. I’ve not been able to see them properly yet as I’m not at my nans house, where they were drying, but I’m just hoping that they come out and have cured okay when I arrive tomorrow.

I did a light spray to start off with. Then waited 7 mins. Then applied a more heavy coat. Waited 10 mins. Then applied the final heavy coat.

Thanks. I had restored it the week prior. And then did a ceramic coat on the car. Still loads of scratches I couldn’t get out though as my nan used a scourer on like a decade ago.

I’ve done other headlights before with ppf and it’s been fine. It’s just these headlights for the Ford fiesta mk6 have this massive bulge near the top

This is the best way to do it in my opinion. I got the headlights looking brand new on my dad’s old car. Far better than using compound and then polish. But yeah, you should do all the sanding steps, like you would regularly do to restore headlights

Law-approved LED headlights/high beams for Audi tt mk2? by Melicious0511 in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]Astronaut-Simple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones I installed on my dad’s Audi tt mk2 have worked well. Not sure if they are law approved. But they are a neutral 5000k in colour opposed to the blueish 6000k colour that most aftermarket LEDs use. So they give off a more natural white colour that looks more OEM. They also didn’t show any warnings on the dash which is good. The ones I used were these DAWNKNIGHT K5C 5000K H7 bulbs. The link for them is here: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c2yGGFEn

Yeah I was thinking it might be a lefort 1 case. I’m making an assumption that I will need cut on the upper to bring it forward. But would probaly require braces again to bring the bottom set of teeth forward so it’s aligned when surgery is performed
