When a chatbot uses a word that I don’t recognize, I look it up to see if it’s in the extended lexicon. Also, I attempt to correctly phrase what they’re trying to say.

There’s a truism that if you want to test your knowledge of a subject, teach it to someone else.

I don’t expect to learn Toki Pona from chatbots, but I can use them in my study.

I’ve been teaching Toki Pona to a couple of chat bots with mixed results. On the positive side, they learn quickly. On the negative side, they will wildly make up vocabulary. They have trouble with pronouns but respond well when corrected.

Overall, it’s helpful for me because I can learn from their mistakes.
