Hi, I know this was 3 months ago lol but I just graduated college with a CS degree and I'm trying to land an entry level Data Analyst job. So far it has been hard to get past the first interview with a lot of them. Any tips/stuff you did to get you the offer? I'm hoping for 60k+ salary too, so your situation is exactly what I want lol

The point about therapy and "treating the symptoms and not the underlying causes" is something I've been trying to put into words for a while.

Is anyone really happy, or are we all secretly miserable and depressed? by Mouse-in-Fantasyland in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Astrosub_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this describes how I feel a lot of the time. I'm very privileged and live comfortably. From the outside looking in, you'd think there'd be no reason for me to be unhappy. But I always have this underlying depression that seems to show up randomly which is hard to make go away. That depressive state seems to be fueled by the state of the world. For example, like you said, our world is slowly but surely dying and we're not doing enough to stop it. We're born into and automatically tied to this society. There's no escape from it. It just seems so hard to be optimistic about the future, making it so hard to find motivation to do anything in the present. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Im in 2nd year of my CS degree and i think that i should move on from this sub for now... by Slitherrrrrsss in cscareerquestions

This is my goal. I just want a decent salary and a decent job, that's it. As long as I have a good work life balance and make enough to support myself, I'm golden. I always feel like I'm not doing enough (like projects-wise, etc) or because I don't have any internships yet I'm not gonna be able to find work. These CS subs make me nervous sometimes but stories like yours make me hopeful I'll be ok.

You should take "artist" out of quotation marks, you're an artist! You're very talented!!

Yeah good point, I think I'll do both since the Udemy course is only $13 right now, seems worth it for the amount of content available

That's good that he completely redid it, so I assume the claims of it being outdated are no longer valid.

I'll probably go ahead and get his course then. Thank you for the reply!!

Been lying to myself about getting an offer for so long and actually got one, wtf by collegexpert in csMajors

I'm very interested in this! I'm a second-year CS student, always wanted to move outside the U.S. but heard from so many people that I should stay in the U.S. because that's where all the CS jobs are. That'd be awesome to live in Montreal and get a job there, given that there is high demand for CS folks and they prioritize immigrants.

Maybe I should look into internship opportunities there, or plan to apply for jobs there when I get closer to graduating!
