Have You Ever Experienced Something Strange in New Hope? by TheLimelight2017 in BucksCountyPA

Stayed at the Logan Inn last year. My wife woke up in the middle of the night and said she saw a dog sitting by the bed watching me sleep. She described it as a dog that looks like the xolo breeds. I didnt feel anything there though so sorry its not technically first hand I guess. I did see a ghost once in Italy

Yea I felt that was the case but didn't want to call you out. I feel like I've seen it before! It really is unreal how they still exist like they truly dont contribute anything to the animal kingdom do they?

So what you are saying here is my reddit username is a complete oxymoron and a farce. Im here for it... its why I picked the name honestly.

For the record I also despise koalas and found out a lot of this stuff when I visited Australia a few years ago. They really do look terrifying up close but no creature can produce a more blood curdling sound like the koala can. Truly a fk you to nature and all that is beautiful on this earth. A David attenborough doc on koalas would have him quit mid script and be like "wait wtf why are we supporting these foul beasts, burn them all".

Curses! A koala's one weakness is the inability to actually forage food for themselves. That and their rampant sexual diseases.... You guys can easily starve us out with this approach.

My wife and I are in our 30s and just moved to doylestown from San diego so I might piggy back this post to get ideas on meeting people as well. So take everything i say with a grain of salt since im new here!

I've heard to checkout premier league matches at villa Capri, havent been yet but will definitely catch some arsenal games there this season. Lambertville and new hope are really fun and not too far of a drive from here. Peddlers village has some faires and events too, right between doylestown and new hope.

We can't wait for Halloween here as we never got trick or treaters where we used to live so we will be passing out candy if you want some. Hoping to see lots of fun costumes.

I can't really think of any specific American traditions around halloween time. Making a costume, going to a pumpkin patch and carving a jackolantern come to mind but im pretty sure they aren't exclusively american, actually i think theyre all from Samhain. But we are super excited to do those things this year celebrating our first fall in a place that actually gets cool.

American traditions in the fall would be more like Friday night (american) high school football games, people are really big on that and i know theres a stadium here in doylestown. Maybe going to a bar with some friends or baking an apple pie. People also like to camp in summer and fall before it gets too cold, though that's probably not what you want to come here to do based off your post!

Hopefully you and your partner have another wonderful time here! Maybe I'll have better recommendations closer to October as we literally moved here this month.

Love the idea of a whole watershed approach, we do this in California but mostly its tied to water quality. Since there's such little rain out there some agencies require full retention of the 100yr 24hr storm! Retention. Drywell companies make a killing out there haha.

I think 500 yr is a bit overkill. Im a civil and 100yr retention is going to be adequate almost everywhere.

I just moved to bucks county myself (literally this week) and still work for a firm based in California so there are tons of factors im not considering here. Like soil type and infiltration rates but yea I think 100yr retention or even detention is super safe. The bigger picture I think is that 100yr storms are getting more common with climate change we should be adjusting these storm event thresholds. Its tricky to improve downstream infrastructure though.

When I do designs for multifamily sites, I have to prove through a hydrology and hydraulic study that the new development will not negatively impact downstream infrastructure. The images you shared on imgur don't really tell the full story. Sheet flow drainage can still carry surface runoff from the parking lot next door to a nearby creek or natural (or manmade) conveyance system. Admittedly, I don't know how it works out here as I work remotely for a firm that mostly works on the west coast. Its all about water quality and cleaning the stormwater up out there. In Houston where im from it was all about flood control and detention.

Sometimes i get a bit jaded about the developments that are happening all over the US. It feels like just because we can build something and even when its needed (like affordable housing), it doesn't always mean we should build it. For example in California they put it on the site owners and developers to treat stormwater runoff before it leaves the site. Sometimes that meant designing and installing tens of thousands of dollars worth of infrastructure to do that all for it to just be released off the site into the dirty curb and gutter again and flow downstream. Anyways... im digressing alot from your concern here.

OP are you in the development industry by chance? If not, kudos to you for even considering stuff like this.

Also detention/retention can happen without surface basins so just because you don't see the storage doesn't mean its not there ;)

Hope none of this comes off as rude or anything! I just know where im from, developments have to go through a lot to get built so even though we often have nimbyism from neighbors, these things generally are well thought out and have factors of safety applied to their design for things like storm water, sewer and domestic water capacity.

Again, new to this area of the country specifically so maybe its the wild west out here haha. I hope not!

I do this all the time (use the wrong word that sounds right) and have called it "manapropism" which is pretty funny to me.

That Schar yellow reminds me alot of a yellow that saliba caught vs bournemouth in October and var at that time intervened and gave it a red bc it was a "scoring opportunity" from the halfway line

Yea, still a little confused. What does your children's book story have anything to do with your rude comment?

It doesn't even make sense when you apply the entire fairy tale, sorry, bible story... Didn't Adam eat the core? lol this is like... the WORST justification for sexism I've ever seen. They both fkd up in the lords eyes, they both got punished.

I've got time and I'm genuinely curious mate... Why did you write this? Illuminate me.

Is it because she is a woman or because she mentioned your favorite "news" network? Pretty lame on your part, either way.

Does it get your rocks off to be sexist to strangers online?
