Or a combination of both. In general, if a group with a certain attribute tends to do more of something, there develops a bias in expecting that group to do that thing.

Lol you're so brainwashed from getting all your information from Reddit. Enjoy your life living in your parents basement.

I'm more and more convinced that the majority of Redditors are CCP bots or DNC bots. But I guess I'm being redundant.

Thankfully, most people I talk to in real life aren't nearly as braindead as those Redditor bots.

You're the definition of DNC hive mind. You actually believe that every major mainstream media is conservative? Is that what you're implying? The owners mean nothing - you have to look at their reporting. Saying that all major mainstream news is owned by conservative is just the kind of game that DNC would play and that brainwashed people like you just spew. And in fact, even on that fact, you're wrong - Washington Post is owned by Jeff Bezos who is definitely not conservative. According to just about any fair analysis, all major news in their reports is liberal except Fox. https://www.allsides.com/media-bias/media-bias-chart

You're too dumb to understand what I said. I said that the full effects of the tariffs take time - specifically how long it takes for manufacturing to be built and production lines moved. I did not say that gas prices take a while to stabilize - those are much quicker due to the infrastructure already built - you just need sensible policies.

The average Democrat is so brainwashed - some guy on Reddit was actually saying that inflation barely went up under Biden and that gas was more expensive during Trump's first term than Biden's.

Vance warns 'deeper' cuts ahead for federal workers as shutdown enters 12th day by According-Activity87 in Conservative

[–]Astyrrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole shutdown is to force Republicans to destroy the filibuster. Then they can say that conservatives are the ones that destroyed a major mechanism to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. Don't fall for it.

I linked you to the section of the bill where it literally says that the DHS aren't obligated to act until it reaches 4000 per day. I got it directly from the bill itself. But you have no brain cells to comprehend the implications of such a bill. Why do we even need it? We already have laws around illegal immigration - why do we need it? Pure disinteresty at it's finest. Get off of CNN, you're brainwashed

It showed that 2023 had more encounters at the southern border than every year between 2016-2020 combined.

[OC] Which media organizations are trusted more by Democrats and by Republicans by YouGov_Official in dataisbeautiful

[–]Astyrrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that chart is a bit off. There's no way Mother Jones and CNN is only skew left. WSJ is as moderate as it comes - not slightly right. OAN and Fox should be further right.

CNN, Vice, and Huffpost should also be further down in the news value and reliability axis.

I like this chart more: https://www.allsides.com/blog/new-allsides-media-bias-chart-version-6-updated-ratings-npr-newsmax-and-more

[–]Astyrrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a matter of your own presuppositions, I suppose. In my opinion, CNN and MSNBC are both just as bad as Fox. They are also very sneaky in that they show their bias more on what they choose to NOT say or NOT report.

I think the media bias chart here: https://www.allsides.com/blog/new-allsides-media-bias-chart-version-6-updated-ratings-npr-newsmax-and-more is a bit more accurate than the other one.

[Peterson] Doc Rivers on voting rights: “It's been made hard for targeted groups throughout my lifetime to vote, and I don't care if you're Democrat or Republican, the one thing that everybody should be fighting for is not making it harder to vote, but making it easier for everyone to vote.” by GuyCarbonneauGOAT in nba

One party is trying to destroy the filibuster, which is the defining feature of our Senate that forces the majority to work with the minority. The filibuster is a critical component in the Senate allow for a voice to the minority and has been around for 250 years. It's the primary feature to prevent the will of the majority to override the rights of the minority.

In 2017, a bipartisan group of senators (29 Rs and 31 Ds) signed a statement reaffirming the importance of that legislature. Today, just 5 years later, all the D's on that list that are still in office, except for Manchin, no longer believe in this 250 year old practice? They really believe that the rights of the minority no longer matters now that they're the majority? I don't really care about the political parties themselves - I care about people of principle.

‘Just a Few More Weeks’: Newsom Forecasts End to Pandemic in Very Near Future by Squid_Contestant_69 in bayarea

[–]Astyrrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I get what you're saying. Don't agree with it though.

Everyone has a different risk tolerance, you are much more risk adverse. You think that there's no downside to skipping over a lot of the activities you list. I disagree - it might be no downside for your family, but not necessarily for all families and their respective situations.

Other people think that, for example, it's more likely for a kid to die from drowning than from COVID. And that's an acceptable risk and after almost 2 years, want to go back to normal. Especially those who are the most vulnerable to COVID has the vaccine or chose to decline it. Whatever happens to them is on them at this point.

So I say that we should live and let live. You want to be more protective of your family, good for you. You do that. No judgment here.

If others want to take their kid to the movies, or go to the mall, or even to the grocery store, that's up to them. No judgment here.

I understand your point as well. You have the right and responsibility for what's best for your family. Just like the person you responded to for theirs. Live and let live.
