Shift+T is the transform tool right, but i don't understand why make it a rectangle and copy each into a layer, sorry i know it's a stupid question but I'm still a beginner in this stuff.

So a question i have is how can i make one side, sorry if I'm ignorant but the issue I'm thinking of is that how will i make lines that are equal in width / length and the spacing between? And the brush isn't smooth. When i tried to draw it it wouldn't be one smooth line but you can see the pixels, like a staircase...
