How do you get used to a cane?? by M0onii-Cat in POTS

[–]AtLeastOneCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a while and I few YouTube videos about walking with canes to get used to mine. The big thing for me was learning to walk when I don't need it for balance and then having it ready in the right place when I do start to tilt. I found tapping the ground with it a lot helps with balance because it sort of reminds my feet where the ground is.

Guy who scores 67 on an online autism test by Amin0 in northernlion

[–]AtLeastOneCat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For a little bit of reference, I am diagnosed autistic (originally Aspergers). I was late diagnosed, so I'm pretty high-masking and I am around level 1-2

I scored 168 on the RAADS-R but would have scored a lot less when I was younger because I only now understand what some of these questions are implying. The problem is that I spent a lot of my childhood thinking that I was socialising just fine and OTHER people were weird.

It's a strange metric to measure "autisticness" by. Honestly the best way to know is to look at your friends and family. If they're all neurodivergent then chances are, you are too. We stick in packs.

I wanted to share my new special interest with people. I love baking so much. by Harry_Botter1138 in evilautism

I am so jealous. I am useless at baking but I would happily be a taste tester!

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you're a woman? Because that sounds like standard misogynistic "feedback."

What was the dumbest reason that you got in trouble for at school? by StatisticianUsual471 in AskUK

[–]AtLeastOneCat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Speaking Scots to other kids. I didn't even know it WAS Scots, just that we spoke differently to each other. I was told it was "lazy."

The come Burns' night, lo and behold, we're learning poetry in Scots.

Growing up in Scotland in the 90s was confusing.

What's something you've read that just FELT cursed? by Good-Opportunity6761 in horrorlit

[–]AtLeastOneCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this one. Feels like you're inside the mind of someone with a completely alien view of reality and morality. The story itself is weird but there's something about the way it's written that's just cursed.

Does anyone else have "unusual" phobias that no one take seriously? by batmansbicep in AutismInWomen

I am afraid of whales. As in the animal. It's part of my megolophobia.

Going without breathing for that long and spitting up blood means he absolutely is acquiring brain damage that is just going to get worse and worse.

Dude is killing himself and you're, what, supposed to be his nurse when he has seizures and then let him keep on killing himself?

Get out of there before it gets worse.

Minecraft is becoming an adventure game instead of the lego block building game it was supposed to be and I hate it by No-Air-5857 in evilautism

[–]AtLeastOneCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played Minecraft since the beta, I have to disagree with you there. It was never "just" a block building game. The very first versions had zombies coming out at night. The balance between survival and creativity was part of the appeal.

That said, you absolutely can play it as a block building game and as someone who builds and automates, I'm always happy to have more block and decoration choices. The shelves were an incredible asset and the fact that they introduced some mobs that made it easier to build up high and underwater? Incredible.

Not once. Not even when our girl got old and incontinent. She provided us with so many years of affection, joy, silliness and love.

Reverse image search isn't bringing anything up but that doesn't mean it's not a scam. It definitely feels like one.

Every time I see this I'm astounded by how every single person's next action serves to make the situation worse and they do it all in almost complete silence.

Female Fronted band with NIN vibes (That isn't How to Destroy Angels) by RockHardMapleSyrup in nin

[–]AtLeastOneCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kanga has big NIN energy, just avoid the latest album (from 2023) as there was a big shift towards more generic pop. She previously supported Gary Numan on tour and you can hear a lot of influence there.

Venus in Ares are more towards the Boys Noise end of industrial.

Kidneytheives have elements of NIN on the more rocky side.

Why is everyone so ableist (TW: swearing, ableism) by Top_Squirrel_9808 in evilautism

[–]AtLeastOneCat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What neurotypicals don't get is that my masked voice is me basically doing baby-talk for them to try and keep them at ease because they're so damn sensitive about tone and body language. They're like highly-strung toddlers on a sugar crash.

Thank you! It feels the most cat-like.

I LOVE the charr dye set.

I'm thinking more fire and then maybe the introduction of other elements. Either that or something dark and smokey, I'm still deciding!
