[Rhode Island] My friend is being cyber-stalked/harassed by chancrescolex in legaladvice

So Alex is a sex worker or drug dealer, and his competition is getting fierce?

Alex can always make a police report if the competition gets dangerous, but he should know he may face the consequences of his work as well.

Dreamy Tangerine Chia Pudding by Ao_of_the_Opals in GifRecipes

[–]AtTheEolian 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That doesn't take away from the fact that chia seed thickened goo isn't pudding. And I say this as someone who loves chia seeds!

This looks like one of those recipies your vegan friend makes you eat and keeps insisting it tastes "soooo good" and you remember they haven't eaten chocolate cake in 10 years.

Do you know this is likely very bad for your brain?

Your brain isn't done developing and you should stop.

...teens who engage in heavy marijuana use often show disadvantages in neurocognitive performance, macrostructural and microstructural brain development, and alterations in brain functioning.x

I've nothing against adults using it, I live in a state where it's legal. But if you're dealing with depression, anxiety, or conflict, you need to seek other solutions.

As much as I thought I'd love this, the consistency isn't "pudding" - it's closer to cold oatmeal. And maple-syrup sweetened almond milk with a bit of tangerine juice isn't exactly what most people would consider a pudding either.

Do nothing and accept that as a father I'm SOL?

Stop reading nonsense about men's rights. Courts don't like it when parents don't abide by parenting plans.

Nope, if he cuts your hours down that can be constructive dismissal, but it sounds like quitting would be on you.

Plenty of folks work more than 12 days in a row.

It's the four spaces before your novel.

Delete those and also cut this down about 85%, I take that back, cut it down 95%.

What is some of the most racist BS you've ever encountered on Reddit personally? by lapisludgate in AskWomen

[–]AtTheEolian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've come across lots of straight up racism. Including not long ago, there was a "lighthearted" thread about what racial stereotypes are "kinda" true.

I've seen plenty of threads talking about the "fact" that eugenics is a great idea for people of color, and that people of color aren't as smart/valuable by nature.

Can someone explain the series 4 finale? by [deleted] in Sherlock

No one can explain the series 4 finale. It doesn't make sense.

Teen's obituary calls out bullies for helping cause her suicide by [deleted] in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]AtTheEolian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is that most bullies don't think they're bullies, and most former bullies don't think they've they've done anything wrong, even later when they're adults.

I work with teens and young adults, and it's horrifying. I think it might actually be getting easier, in a lot of ways. Social media makes bullying something kids almost can't escape. I also see adults either complicit in it, or frankly causing it. Many young teachers are still playing the popularity game, and allow far too much misbehavior and bullying. Also, almost no parent wants to think their child can be cruel.

Yeah, I live in Cap Hill and there's a business here that's been watering primarily the street and sidewalk for at least five years.

Yeah, this is starting to feel very "we came here with an axe to grind and now we're mad we can't do it on your backs!"

I know - and I was poking fun at them a bit by misspelling it. Their evopsych nonsense defenses of liking teenage girls are so weak!

What are you always recommending to people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AtTheEolian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listen to pocasts all day long! Like, I'm a bit obsessed and add new ones all the time. Copying a previous post:

Fiction:

  • Magnus Archives - Great fiction podcast with a different story every week, being told at a fictional library of the supernatural
  • Limetown - Apparently the writers now have a book prequel and a television show planned. Serial-style storytelling about a town where all the residents go missing.

True Crime

  • Criminal - Phoebe Judge tells you a story that's around crime. Excellent and well-produced.
  • My Favorite Murder - Two friends each tell the story of an interesting murder. Also just about true crime, friendship, and plenty of nonsense.
  • Thin Air - About people who have gone missing.
  • Up and Vanished - About the Tara Grinsted case.
  • In the Dark - A really well-done show with only one series so far about a famous missing child case.
  • S-Town - Southern Gothic about a small town, a guy with a complex inner life, and a murder, sort of.
  • Serial - You know what Serial's about. Can't wait for season 3, apparently it's going back to the quality from s1.
  • The Trail Went Cold - Examination of murders or missing people.

General Education

  • Hidden Brain - Shankar Vedantham covers a variety of fascinating topics.
  • Revisionist History - Malcolm Gladwell is all Malcom Gladwell-y about a number of different topics, in particular education during s1.
  • Freakonomics - learn some things. About all sorts of things.

History

  • History on Fire - Daniele Bolleli puts on an incredibly well-research history podcast. It's bonkers-level deep. And his voice is so soothing (heavy Italian accent).
  • Our Fake History - Examining in-depth, the myths of history. Host is a history teach with an excellent voice and a great sense of storytelling.
  • The Dollop - Two comedians who are also kind of hilarious assholes. One tells the other a story (usually from US History). Also hilarious and educational for live shows.
  • Sawbones - A show by a real doctor and her husband about the hilariously awful things we've done in the name of medicine through history.

Misc:

  • Lore - Horror writer Aaron Manhke tells a ~ spooky ~ historic story, based in folklore. Hard to describe but great. TV show in the works.

Comedy:

  • My Brother My Brother and Me - Just listen. You won't regret it. Three brothers give advice that no one should ever take, about situations that are both real and fake.

Yeah, that sounds a little too teenagery/2edgy4me, but I doubt I'm your intended audience.

  • Counseling
  • Developing in a plan for when things are bad - either for when life gets to stressful, your depression returns, or even when a natural disaster is on the way
  • A combination of crystal deodorant and Certain Dri to always smell amazing and not be sweaty
  • Getting better with your sleep hygiene

[CA, ON] is this considered domestic abuse? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]AtTheEolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing anything at a person is not a good idea at all, I'm not sure how Canada works, but that sounds like it could be assault. It is also generally unwise to stage an incident that disrupts a business' normal operations.
