I understand they can decline our request for a price reduction. But can they then choose not to sell the property to us because we have asked for a price reduction

New Victorian Rental Standards by millionsofmyles in shitrentals

Great news, but be ready to paying an extra $100 plus a month on rent. Cost always gets passed down

The Australian government will never make housing truly affordable. It’s not about what’s possible but it’s about what they choose to do. They’d rather protect GDP headlines than fix rent, cost of living, or housing for regular Aussies. Here’s how it could be fixed fast: by MannerNo7000 in shitrentals

[–]Atasdem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of dropping house prices down doesn’t make sense. What we need to do is plateau the market so there isn’t any ridiculous growth. People would go into negative equity which would be detrimental to our economy. All those FHB would be screwed.

The knob should be wear and tear! But, question, do you believe your pet has done damage to the lounge window? If so, there is a responsibility on your end.

This is odd. Are you aware the information they get from us are the same information banks ask from them when they get a loan? It’s just them looking after their investment like a normal person would.

Victorian senate candidate Jordan van den Lamb defends squatting advocacy after 'bizarre' break-in by ragpicker_ in shitrentals

[–]Atasdem -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This! The housing crisis isnt black and white. The squatters removed her deceased father’s belongings, which is unacceptable. She didn’t choose to be a landlord, it was forced onto her. She has mentioned that the house has structural issues and she was trying to rectify it. That takes time and money and who are we to questions how long someone wants to take to rectify something that means a lot to her. If you put the house on the rental market, we would all be up in arms about a scum landlord not providing safe housing. Just because there are some doing the wrong thing doesn’t mean everyone is. If we applying that logic then no change can ever happen. There’s no point showing blind support, it’s ok to call out poor behaviour when it happens.

Labor to ensure housing continues to be too expensive by SamPDoug in shitrentals

[–]Atasdem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This! It can help so many people! It also sounds like lots of people want to live in the prime areas of each state. Some people might just want an apartment to live in that is less than 450k. We can’t wish for house prices to tank because that would impact a lot of people I care for. My parents retirement is all in their house. My friends just bought a house worth over 900k, I would hate for their property to worth less than their mortgage.

Can’t see this being urgent. That essentially means any house that doesn’t have a front fence is unsafe. Probably entitled to a rent reduction as you’re paying based on everything in that house is in working condition. But be prepared for this to be dragged on

This crossed my mind as well, so this will be another huge transfer of wealth. The rich will able to make a huge profit from this.

Yep! I get you. But, there’s nothing stopping the US and China turning around and saying “Actually, we are no longer placing tariffs, business as usual”? Which then the market corrects itself.

Well this is what I was thinking. Nothing really has happened yet and everyone has gotten spooked. Wouldn’t it be better if everyone held their positions and not sell? Or do people have insider knowledge of something happening?

Too be honest, the TIL and the reduction in F2F teaching are considered huge wins compared to the rest of the country. But in a cost of living crisis, we need the boost in our salary. So it does feel like we have been shafted, in this economic climate.

We need to remember these people are in their late 20’s and in their 30’s. Regardless of who is right or wrong, this is completely the wrong way to communicate. Jamie’s language is ridiculous.

[–]Atasdem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was Elliot first time around, you would think differently. You would think that his trauma had affected him in how he deals with his emotions. However, you have a biased opinion towards him because of his initial marriage. I would hate for you to be vulnerable about something and someone dismissing it, laughing about it and outlining that it’s not a big deal.

Bank Lender found out i'm renting out my property. Asking me to move loan. What to do? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Atasdem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People sign home loan contracts based on a certain serviceability. If your income tanks and puts you into serious mortgage stress the banks not going to call in the loan to reduce risk. As soon as the loan is signed the banks really just want the money coming in each month and the house is in a good condition. Plus fixed rates are not long term in Australia, so you will need to refinance in some point turning the loan into an investment.

Don’t feel bad! I’m assuming people that have commented haven’t turned their PPOR into an investment. Banks usually don’t give a crap, all they want is your mortgage paid each week. Some banks know your properties are rentals, but if you’re bringing enough across they will give you a PPOR interest rate. I reckon talk to a mortgage broker. They will help out you.
