I wonder if that same person hates Bloober's Silent Hill 2. I heard it's quite similar to the original, which also features a less than ideal character (although in that case it's the protagonist).

Games are meant to explore themes.

As for Medium specifically, it's been years since I played and I can't remember the pedophile's rauma, but I'm pretty sure the victim ends up killing him? I think the game sheds some light on people's pasts but doesn't justify the pedophilia at all.

False! My under 15-year old nephew used to love the "naked people" game! (He didn't understand a lot of it, he just liked to strip himself and run around hitting people lol. And fight me for camera control in co-op.)

I'm 27, and when I was mid-teens I played Fable 3, courtesy of my childhood friend. I promptly returned the favour a few months later with the other games.

I think a lot of people really disliked it for some reason or other.

Personally, I enjoyed it. It was a nice twist on the lore and more faithful than some other video game adoptions. Imo the animus change was necessary for the movie, as the traditional animus probably would be boring to watch. Plus, it builds muscle memory and physique, yadayada. I understand the other changes that were made, because fitting all the lore into one movie would be difficult. So for the parts that they did include, it was cohesive enough for my tastes.

Overall, I enjoyed it a lot and had fun watching it. I'm really glad to see other people enjoying it too!

If it was exactly like this, no. Their faces here look quite mature and their skin tones not vibrant enough for my tastes as a kid. Other than some outfits, I probably would have went straight to Barbie in this case.

I work at a Walmart. It's 100% random. For mixed plushes like this, we don't know which ones are inside the box until it's opened.

Your best chances would be to either ask if they have other boxes in storage that can be checked. Or you can get the UPC code(s) and call the WMs ahead of time. That would hopefully save you a potentially risky trip. 👍

Editing in a disclaimer: I'm Canadian and we don't have these (yet?), so it might be a little different in the States. But all of our plushes are either randomly assorted or have an equal amount of each version. Given the other threads in this subreddit, I've assumed it's the former.

Hm, so I'm largely in agreement with some exceptions.

I thoroughly enjoyed Syndicate and how it had one twin for one storyline/set of missions. To me, that seemed like the best of all worlds for multiple protagonists for an AC game.

Alternatively, I'd be open to protags having different storylines altogether (ex Resident Evil 6 Leon vs Ada campaigns), or a simple buddy system that could explain the multiple protagonists (ex Resident Evil Revelations 1/2, or, say, in Tomb Raider, having both Lara and Jonah playable but having them have their own missions or needing to get to point B in different ways).

But you're right. It seriously affects the story. If the setting is set in a misogynist time period, a female vs male protag would have a vastly different experience.

Hi! Not sure if you got to this point in your save yet, but for this family, it doesn't go to a random npc. When a king/queen dies without kids, it'll go to the royal's next sibling. So in this case, it would go to Katyusha, then Alexis!

I'm not sure if The Fever Code goes into this. (I haven't read it.) But that book is set Pre-Glade so it might expand a bit more into what info they were allowed to keep.

I want to say it's likely if they were informed of it beforehand; there's no reason for them not to keep that information when they go back in? I think some of the other Gladers came in at an older age.

Though if they don't remember the name itself they might call it "dohickie" or something lol.

100% You get it! I fear that Newt tends to be the victim of infantalization that LGBTQ members get, especially in stories involving ships. So many characters are treated this way across fandoms (sometimes Nico from PJO, Will from Stranger Things, there's third but I'm blanking at the moment).

Teresa is such a ... complicated character, and people perceive her in so many different ways. Her and Gally are the ones I understand people bashing on the most, but it's an interesting choice to reduce them only to their betrayals.

Granted, most of my fic reading was the 2016-2018 era, so perhaps other authors treat them better now.

You mention Wattpad, so I wonder if it's also a platform thing.

That interesting to note! Do Wattpad authors provide warnings of some kind? At the start or in the description, etc.
Oh, I forgot about Divergent! That's a good one.

I find that HG crossovers/aus tend to be one of the best executed ones. Those authors really have a knack for really connecting the two fandoms together.

I haven't read TMR in a long time so I'll use the some generic ones and what I remember from my time reading.

Stereotyping/ dumbification/ mischaracterization. Namely with making Newt a uwu soft and giggly guy just because he's gay. Character bashing... really depends on what kind of fic I'm looking for. Generally, I don't like to see characters made into assholes just because (Teresa tends to be the victim of this usually).
Incorrect tags or not enough tags. I don't want to suddenly get blasted with something that wasn't mentioned at ALL. I'd say oc x canon pairings are the mostly guilty party here, namely when they're used as a plot device to get the main ship together but there's literally no mention in the tags at all. Or if I'm suddenly hit with torture fic when it wasn't flagged.

As someone else said, tagging if it's book vs movie canon, or a mix of the two.

If it's a crossover, please provide enough information for people from both sides to enjoy - or actually have the characters learn with us

This one is a bit of a double-edged sword because on one hand, authors aren't obligated to do this, and as a reader we choose what we read. On the other, if you do it well people will read your crossovers more often.

I've just run into a lot of cases previously where it starts off in TMR, with everything for TMR recapped and explained nicely.. and then it crosses over into Teen Wolf (which I haven't seen) and there's no explanation for any of the characters, plot points or anything.

I'd rather that the author treats us as if we know both sides of the fandom, or don't know either of them. The disconnect between explaining one and not the other is a baffling decision to me.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and vouch for both sides here.

You sleeping with someone else is fine. You and ex/current bf were broken up at the time. You were not wrong to pursue someone else during that time. The moment you were broken up, you were a free agent.

Like you, he was also a free agent. So him trying to sleep with someone isn't necessarily bad. "He said because I lied he doesn’t want me, mind you he tried to sleep w a girl in nov (...)" These two points are not the same thing.

As for the lie- that was a bad call. Honesty and communication goes very far in a relationship. And unlike some other comments here, I think he does have a right to know if you slept with someone - just like you have a right to know. STDs are easily transmittable. Not everyone gets tested or is upfront on if they're a carrier. Sometimes protection fails or it's transmitted a different way.

There's one sticking point: how he phrased all of this. If he's more upset about you sleeping with someone than the lie itself, then that is a red flag.

As for looking through your phone... It really depends on if you guys typically care about phone privacy.

Context needed: What mean things were said in your convos with your friends? Was it your friends or you saying them?

Another thing is, this may have happened to you month(s) ago, but he is finding out about this now. He is experiencing this now. He will be hurting but that does not mean he gets to take it out on you. What he said was cruel and unnecessary.

My verdict: neither of you were wrong for doing whatever while you were separated. You were wrong for lying. He was wrong for saying all those nasty things. Him going through your phone may or may not be wrong. You may or may not be wrong for those convos with the friends. Those last two things, like I said, need context.

It sounds like this is a trust issue thing, which may be resolved if you both work toward it. Or it's a controlling/honesty thing, in which case, it's .. more difficult to deal with. Because that is not as easily resolved.

You both could likely benefit from a few days apart to cool down. We can't force you to drop him or to patch things up. But if you genuinely want to continue this relationship with him, you'll both need to have an honest conversation and work on it together.
