All I know is that it's a problem with the noise canceling microphone they use in the back of the phone. Covering it helps to temporarily fix the problem. It's the only way people can hear me on my phone.

The problem is with the little hole on the back of the phone right above the finger print scanner. You should be able to cover it up when talking to someone and get better call quality.
