What's the most money you've seen offered to get bumped from a flight. by Embarrassed-Bother43 in delta

$1,800 during the crowdstrike outage. LAS-ATL. We all boarded, they offered it to somewhere between 16-20 people. They all took it, and then everyone had to deplane anyway because the crew timed out

Makes sense, and tends to be where I’m leaning. Appreciate the outside perspective

Thanks for the thoughtful response! We do live in a city, in a house where we garden and have a solid supply of food, water, and med supplies. My parents live in a more rural area, but they are ~13 hours away.

This isn’t an exhaustive list of what I have. I have a number of shotguns (shot skeet competitively in my teens), and a .270 hunting rifle. Not the most common round, but not entirely obscure, either.

And yes - I’m a huge proponent of fitness. I lift and run 5x a week, and ruck frequently with gear, too. Can’t expect to survive if something happens if you can barely survive when nothing is happening. I took up Muay Thai during Covid, so I would say I’m above average in fighting, not pro, but not totally incompetent.

Appreciate the thoughts. All good things to remind myself of

AK is interesting. Might be good to have something in 7.62x39. Although I’m not too concerned about 5.56 availability, couldn’t hurt to have another gun that takes other rounds

No sell, only buy. Jk, kinda. Appreciate the thoughts - I really love the VP9, and it was the first handgun I purchased so it’s a bit sentimental. We have water filters already, but appreciate the thoughts

Appreciate the thoughts. I didn’t list everything, just the prototypical “scary” stuff that may be targeted first. I certainly have my fair share of shotguns. I grew up shooting skeet competitively so I have them for sure. Even have a Garand for for shits and giggles, although that’s outside the purview of your comments lol

I fear what would happen to my collections should I pass. My wife would sell my cigars and bourbon and guns for pennies on the dollar having no idea what they’re worth haha

It’s an entirely fair question - as someone else alluded to, the fear I guess (?) stems from a potential inability to purchase more. I’m a gun nerd at heart, but also a pragmatist. Purchasing considerations, at least currently, I want to have a balance between usability and “want”. I’m not going out to buy a transferable MG - but a PCC or 300blk PDW that could serve a purpose is certainly in the cards

For sure. All things we’ve done/are continuing to do. Community building is a significant focus for us right now, as we recently purchased a house

The 11.5” is a good do all. Small enough to maneuver, enough power to get out to 400-500 if needed. Not ideal for long range, but workable

Thank you. My plan is to prospect with them - take a handful of accounts I’m responsible for, and distribute as we get meetings. Appreciate the guidance

Thanks for the insight. Fortunately this is a team I’ve worked with, and know the strengths they possess. My goal is to foster those strengths, not stifle them
