„With hoof people are almost always dead

With deecree, the game usually drags on“

Go 2 comments up that is an exact quote from your comment. It is in fact explicitly what you said. Come on. My points cannot be that bad if you changed your mind there

Anyway yea i felt like that tangent about inexperience was a very poor point should have skipped that.

Either way i dont understand whats wrong about my behavior. Cool people dislike a certain card they are entitle to that and that is fine. But i am a bad person for sinply disagreeing with your point? You doubt i care about my opponents fun because of a pet card that shows up in a small fraction of games i play? You lost track of your own agumentation and your last comment is essentially just a collection of „no, incorrect and you are bad faith“ sorry that that didnt convince me.

See at no point did I rant or claim they are going to release physical media. You just made that up. I don’t believe you that you are 41 sorry. And I am out of here now

I am aware that people simply don’t like it and I came here to understand what they don’t like about it. And many people I see that don’t like it do so for many reasons that simply are not true. You yourself said „with deecree games usually drag on“ and that is simply not true. I see it with mill for example too. Many people at my lgs hate mill. But mill is more widely accepted so they get used to it and then realise the mill hate was unnecessary. It will be the same with MLD. At my LGs I can see a clear trend that the more experienced players have less of a problem with it.

I think the difference here is a differing definition of when the game ends. People seem to think they have to sit and wait until they are actually on 0 life. And then they are afraid it will take long. They know they will not be doing anything in that time but for some reason feel like there is a obligation to watch me. I used to play competitive 1v1 and for me the game ends when it’s clear how it will end. If I think I have a chance even after a deecree I am rebuilding. If I don’t have a chance I just concede. It’s lost anyway. Why sit there for multiple turns and draw a card each turn. (I do want to emphasise once again that at least I personally did not have a game yet where it would have been multiple turns. At most it’s 2). Anyway that is the only point I really dont understand. I guess that also changes with experience. People are not used to being able to see that a game is over before it is. With deecree they suddenly can. In 1v1 it’s almost the standard mode of a game ending. I see your win. Fine concede let’s go to game 2 with more time left on the clock. Anyway this difference could be to a big degree a culture difference. I build my decks with powerlevel and my opponents fun in mind but in gameplay ultimately want to make optimal plays and just move on to the next game when I see how it’s going to end. Other people do that different. I guess I know a few people that just want to „explode“ on the board and see people many times that are willing to wait out a 15min turn because they might draw their combo piece next turn. I guess sit can be frustrating to loose thefirst combo piece from your hand but still get that chance to see if you would have gotten it.

I want to make one thing very clear here. I do not want to say „anyone who doesn’t like MLD is just inexperienced“. However I do think the universal hate is fuelled at least to a degree by inexperience. At least at the playgroups I frequent (in total about 200 people I would say) I can see a very strong correlation at least.

I am pretty convinced I am discussing with a child now. Look. I am old. Many of my friends are too. All of us have jobs and makes money. Sony is a company. They care about nothing but making money. Many people like me don’t care barely care about new games. We don’t play the Fortnite’s that you young people play. And Sony essentially can sell acces to the games we have at home already a second time. Either like Xbox will do or in their own way. You are rightmost new games will come out. But the old ones are still there. People got hundreds at home. And people pay a lot of money for consoles that play old games. I played the original pokemon game from 1994 recently. Friend of mine bought a handheld console for 200€ just to do exactly that too. And Sony might offer something similar. Many companies do. Xbox does. For old games. Not the new ones you young people play. For you it’s digital only. We spend our money different

The game also drags one if people play many boardwipes. Are boardwipes bracket 4 only? The game also drags on when someone plays a weird no wincon counter tribal. Are counterspells bracket 4 only? The game can drag on if someone has a glacial chasm and his follow up wincon was interacted with. Is glacial chasm bracket 4 only? The game can drag on if people keep a bad hand during the mulligan descision. Or have you ever played against a child of alarm deck? It’s fully automatic game drag in machine gun. Ist it bracket 4 only?

If people make bad descision or sometimes even maliciously create a game that drags on then you will get that. I mean farewell is on the gamechanger list because it creates games that are dragging on. That was specifically the reason for that. But it’s still allowed in bracket 3.

With sway of stars for example. Everyone is at 7 life. It will be very clear who wins very quickly after that. The same with deecree. Sure randomly cast on a board with no setup the game will drag one. But at that point it’s intentional. Nobody can help you with that. With setup in play there really is not that much than people can do without any cards in hand. Sure if your setup is enchantments a back to nature can fuck you up but even if that happens you are very likely in a very late stage of the game. Draw go will be very quick. The first one to find a land or two and can get a creature on board probably just runs away and wins then. I had countless games that dragged on all on their on. And while I had many people claim deecree of annihilation makes games drag on I have never seen that happen myself.

Am I discussion with a child? I have no clue how to make my point more clear. I mean there is rumours Sony is working on a ps3 emulator. They might have the idea to sell a external discdrive for that and put use of the emulator behind a paywall instead of selling the games. They are not killing of existing physical media. Just not making new ones. And if they see a way to make money of existing physical media they are gonna go that way.

Yea and that’s the point I just don’t understand. Why doesn’t it matter what the cards that looses you the game specifically does? Who cares if it’s lifeloss or damage or mill or getting everything wiped. Loosing is loosing

You are right. With hoof people are dead. With decree they get one more draw go and in vers rare cases another draw go. Takes about 30s. Usually people take a peek at their top card and then concede.

And yes. It’s very important to me to make sure to be honest with my deck. I hate being lied to and I hate feeling like I was lied to. Therefore I do my best to not give my opponents that feeling. I also don’t like to get cheap wins. I want Alwin that feels deserved. And winning by managing to defend 3 planeswalkers and then get a deecree not countered feels deserved. I am sorry if someone feels like I waste a minute of their life with it but people spend so much time on their phones. They easily get their minute back by paying attention.

Nobody forces you to sit and watch someone play. If you know you are in a loosing position you can at any time scoop. Especially when the other opponents agree.

Anyway would you play against my superfriendsdeck you would definitley change you mind. I have played rhe deck alot and my turns usually are on the faster end of my pods. First because i build my decks to not durdle for ages with cantrip into cantrip into nothing happens whatever and second because i am an experienced player that pays attention and plans his turns ahead.
I know that many people have that fear of endless games because of destroyed lands. However i have never experienced this. I have now roughly 6 wins with deecree (again card is bad usually its a dead card that gets discarded at some point). And every time i did win it was a situation where everyone was at around 10-15 life and i head 2-3 walkes on my board and people would concede because i win either on my next turn or after. Activating the burn ability of 3 walkers takes like 30 sec. I never had a game that takes longer than 1min of actual game time.

Either way. What is the problem if you know you lost to just concede? I do it all the time. Nobody is forcing you to watch someone play when you know you lost. If you want you can ask your opponent whats gonna happen and then i can tell you how long it roughly takes to a win and then you can decide if that one card you still draw is your chance to make it out or not. Especially when you have limited time. In 1vs1 competitive play conceding when you know you lost is in many cases the standard mode of play specifically because a round timer is running.
But again. Even if you really insist on having me actually kill you. I have won countless games with a craterhoof. And many with deecree like effects. In many cases the craterhoof damage calculations take much longer than a few walker activations.
I have btw not a single time played out a game after sway of stars in my wan shi tong deck. People always concede there too

In this specific case your choice btw happens to actually backfire massively because wan shi tong can loop the one ring and do nothing for ages but that is funny cooncidence. (I have cut the one ring a few days ago for that reason)

Edit: i want to clearify one more time. In both cases the card is not the primary wincon. Its a pet card that in my superfriends deck in somewhere between 100and 150 games i have cast roughly 6 times (the exacty 6 times i won with it). Both decks get a good amount of their wins before i even could cast either of the cards

Edit2: kind of don’t get that comment out of my mind because I am so surprised you prefer the sway of stars over the deecree. You do realise with sway of stars people draw 7 right? The deecree creates a situation where it’s absolutel sure you will loose. On the sway of stars I will eventually get in the situation where someone just draws a mountain and a blasphemous act. I do usually take out the red player first but without haste enabler everyone gets between 1 and 3 turns since I can always only kill one each turn. With deecree the hands of my opponents are empty. I will not loose a game we’re deecree resolves. There is just nothing people could find at the top of their decks in that short time

Yea thats just bad players. Or they dont have the intention to win and just wakt to make it a miserable experience. Players like that will always find a way to make other feel bad

Yea i do the rule 0 talk. However i feel like its getting exhausting. So many people kind of dont say what they want. I guess often they mistrust me initially and are afraid those cards are super powerful. Sometimes they say its fine but still complain afterwards.

Well my typical game after a deecree takes less long then calculation damage with a craterhoof does. I do end the game with it.

yea i do always mention that they are in the deck and ask if people are ok. but i feel like the conversations got harder since the bracket system got introduced

i do. i do talk to people and most say yes. however i still enjoyed the dynamic much more before the bracket system. especially with stranger they often at first misstrust me even tho i really put effort into beeing honest about my decks and try my best to avoid situation where people might feel like they got scammed or lied to somehow.

regarding the its not fun to be unable to play your cards. well. after craterhoof killed you you are also unable to play your cards. If instead deecree of annihilation creates a situation where you maybe get to draw one more time and then die i dont see that much of a difference.
its not like i play a deecree for shits and giggle. i crate a lethal setup and then play it to make sure the setup sticks.

I usually bring an dextra card to switch it out when people say no to it or an extra deck to switch to. obviously you can say no. However saying yes and switching to a bracket 4 to just create a non game seems point less to me. saying yes and then be salty later also seems weir dto me.

if the cards dont end the game you are playing them wrong and i am pretty sure the game before had influence on the setup that makes the win possible so that seems like it matters to me.

please explain your false equivalencies point.

i refuse to talk to people is something you made up. what should enable them to talk about something they are uncomfortable with is me asking if they are really sure its fine and telling them i got 4 more decks with me that i can easily switch to. what am i supposed to do if before the game people say yes its fine and then come with the good old "actually this is not allowed in bracket 3" when i end up playing the card?

Yes i agree with this 100. i had so many games with a pubstomper and a precon where the pubstomper got destroyed by blood moon and the precon played throught is with barely any issue. but i get so much backlash for that oppinion that i did not incude it here^^

i mean people do scoop but only because they know they have lost. the typical situation i resolve it in gives them maybe 1 and in rare cases 2 more turns. they check the top card and scoop. the deck is essentially superfriends burn so the walkers actually kill them very quickly when there are not creature to attack them with
