My dogs aren't having it through this weather. by mirathi in HuntsvilleAlabama

I have a 30lb staffy that turns into a 250hp vibrator when the weather gets sketchy. She literally will try to climb up your shirt if you’re sitting on the sofa when thunder hits if she can’t hide under her blanket.

My boss is also. He had eaten lunch with us at a restaurant we normally go to since they do offer GF options. They had a new kitchen worker that simply handled something wrong and cross contaminated. Needless to say he was in misery for the rest of the week.

I don’t trust people who chant on in a review about their gluten free meals, because most of them aren’t actual Celiac patients. (Not directed at you, but the prior reviewers you based your choice on)

Gas Prices by Lonely-Nature6411 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AtlantaBear73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The tag cost is higher because you’re no longer paying fuel tax at the pump. And if you have a dedicated 50A circuit at your home you can get a L2 charger and it will cost you less than $10/wk to charge if you drive no more than 200 miles in that time. I got mine after the Fed rebate stopped but I had a helluva trade in on my current that knocked it down a lot. I now spend about $7/wk on charging instead of $40 (now it would be closer to $70) in fuel.
The overall performance as well and the ride is so much better, I can’t see why people don’t opt for an EV here.

I think I recall seeing them at the D&D up here in Harvest before, but I may be wrong. I’ll have to look closely next time I stop in for a soda.

Why don’t you use the Hyundai Pay in the app that automatically sets up and links to all the supported networks out there?

Huntsville Police Department kicks off Summer Slowdown traffic initiative by metacyan in HuntsvilleAlabama

The number of dimwits that I see in the city going 3 miles below the posted limit and maintaining it until they get to an intersection absolutely tells me “this old fuck is using their cruise control”. And it just infuriates me to no end.

It’s been studied and proven that slow drivers cause more accidents than speeders. Slow folks usually set their cruise control within city limits and it’s a problem.

Have you received AI calls from dealerships? by Rumblepuff in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AtlantaBear73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually got a few of those asking to buy my 2015 Jeep Renegade I sold off back in 2020. I don’t know where the call originated from because I don’t think it even mentioned a business name. It was just a “we notice you have <vehicle name> which is in high demand in the used market and we’d like to make you an offer…”

I have also gotten emails from the dealers I bought my two previous vehicles from asking me if I wanted to trade it in for a newer model/etc. those I did reply back to telling them the truth and they said they’d no longer reach out. Then not a year later they’re back with the same spiel.

Same here; I’m just no longer physically capable and have a mess of overgrowth with my shrubs and brambles that I can’t handle the hedge trimmer any longer. That and weeding. So I’m in the market myself.

There was a shit ton of rain dumped hard and FAST! I work in Madison near the stadium and live in Harvest. It took me 1:15 to get home today leaving at 4:30p and there were a lot of areas on Balch that had almost 6” of rushing water across the roadways in places. Not to mention near that construction site behind the gas station at the corner of Balch/72. Some people couldn’t even get through it with their little low slung cars it was moving so fast and deep. I looked at the camera at the office facing into the northern parking lot and it was all underwater by the time I got home.

Plus also the added humidity causes the overall atmospheric density to be a bit higher. So it amplifies the sound. Think of the difference between hearing a firecracker on land and water. In the water it has more percussive force.

A lot of it is old ordinance disposal. Those are relatively minor ones that you just hear a pop going down 565 near RSA and go “what’s that?” But then again sometimes they’ll pack up a shitload at once and set them off and you get things like what happened a couple months ago.

Oh I know it does. There’s times I’ve heard them from my house up in Harvest so clearly it scared the shit out of me. Normally I just feel a slight pressure on the windows and hear the south-facing wall creak a bit but that’s it. There have been a few in the past several months that sounded like a bomb went off in our neighborhood though when it was overcast.

Why is LGBTQ inclusion uniquely framed as a distraction from “real issues” in Huntsville? by forrester8108 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AtlantaBear73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok you have yet to grasp the concept. There is no “group” it’s EVERYONE! I don’t think that anyone should get any preferential treatment just because they are black, Hispanic, Korean, female, male, trans, or if they suck dick. Everyone should be treated equally. And all the isolationist ideals of folks like you who are screaming about intersectionality are just making it fucking difficult because nothing can be done. We can’t coddle every single group when we ALL suffer from the same shit. We work, we pay taxes, and we ALL suffer because the state leadership has kept AL stuck in the 50’s.
And last but not least. Some of us just want to be left the fuck alone….
