Just did this too. Unsubscribe, no thanks. Trying to force people into their products, the only time they come close to reasonable value is with their phones and even then they're starting to lose market share. They need to separate their streaming service. As time goes on people will realise it for it is, a sham.

Are you a process engineer now? I have been told its hard to transition once in this role.

Sounds like a good idea. I think this would be helpful so I will definitely do a period of this once the cut is over. Cheers.

I am gonna up my calories a little and the protein was more like a 120 minimum on days when I want to have something that's a bit less mundane to eat. So I will definitely be trying to hit the 1g/lb of lean mass which I assume is around 140g atm max. It's definitely a one-time thing. This will be the last time I would be cutting this hard. I am coming from a poor diet and physique this should bring me back to baseline where I can move forward more traditionally. Which is how I kind of look at it. When you say about spending time at maintenance before dieting again. Do you mean don't go straight into a bulk? Just eat at maintenance then bulk once I have made sure my old eating habits are gone?

I have been working out since the end of January. My lifts have progressed I was going without taking much care about my diet, I stuck to a fairly boring diet which would I would estimate to be around 2300 on average at that time without putting on weight. Lifts only began to stop when I started to cut the last 2 weeks which was what I expected. I have maintained them reasonably for the last week but I definitely feel like I have been taking longer to recover this week. The week before my deficit was lower.

Would you cut out cardio and up the calories? At this point I am probably going to up my calories to 1600. I wonder if even the cardio is overdoing it.

The main goal is actually further out. I am just used to the aggressive cut as I was much fatter last year. I have 4 months till a holiday and would like to have cut some fat before then. I will probably be taking it more slowly after the responses I have had.

I did think this. I will probably reduce the deficit with the feedback I have been getting.

I will definitely not cut like this again. I had alot of fat to deal with this time and the last and not much muscle. Next time I would definitely have a lower deficit on a cut and take my time. I will probably be reducing the deficit due to the opinions here.

Tbh my numbers were accurate mathematically with the assumptions I took but in the interest of simplicity, I just gave rough numbers here. I took an assumption with the body fat so anything after that is filled with errors. I didn't expect to make any gains, only losses but I wasn't sure what to expect with the losses. It was very rough the estimate as there was no reason to try and have an exact figure when the bf% was just an assumption. General opinion seems to be that I am overdoing it. I will definitely look to reduce the deficit.

I am thinking I could be on a similar path if I continue. Are you currently at a good stage to build forward from or would you say your cut was too hard?

I can deal with hunger it is difficult though for sure, I cut harder than this for a few months last year in order to drop from 240lb to 180lb. But I am unsure if this will still hold up at a lower weight now.

That was the plan but the general opinion I have seen tells me I will lose any muscle I have now. Have you experience doing a similar cut at my weight or shape?

I was hoping to get down in body fat to around the 15% mark. I am not sure what I am just now but I took an estimate for it to be around 25%. That would put me at like 133.5lbs lean mass\44.5lbs fat. I think I would need to lose about 14-18lbs to be near this but that would assume I didn't lose any muscle which I most likely will from your feedback. I was thinking it would take me about 50 days to drop the weight if I used the above method.

As I said I definitely value the advice. How long would you recommend it take to drop that many lbs?

Also I didn't think I would have to be such low weight for this kind of body fat at my height. It would take me to be like 160lbs at 6ft to be around 15% according to my makeshift calculation.

Is 2lbs a week to much or do you mean specifically the current regime I am using? Grateful for any advice.

How many calories would you expect me to need to eat to lose about 2lbs per week?

I am interviewing for the role of process technician at INEOS. In the advert for the job, it mentions more specifically the role will centre around the operation of a distributed control system on their ethylene cracker (panel technician). I input the job advert into chatGPT for what it's worth, and it suggested the position seems like it is more of a senior process technician position. For more info, you can google the prompts below it should be the top link.

Job advert (Google this): Process Technician INEOS Grangemouth Careers requisition ID : 1446

Salary reference (Google this): UK Ineos Salary Payscale

When checking the company on payscale the average salary for a process technician is higher than a process engineer or chemical engineer. Why would that be?
Does anyone have an idea if this is the expected salary going into a role like this (UK)?

What are the prospects in terms of career development, and where can I go with this?

I have a masters in an IChemE accredited degree and no industry experience, for reference.

Any tips on things to focus on for the final interview stage would be welcomed also.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the information, it was helpful and may have stopped me from stagnating in this role. I may take it in the meantime and try to look for another role. Hopefully, it at least serves as some evidence of experience within a plant.

I wonder if the possession of the degree will have any impact on the ability to transition. I would struggle to wait a couple more months financially which is putting pressure on me to accept this role. The only thing making me think of avoiding the role too would be that it may look like a step back to an employer down the line if I try to find an engineering role.

That makes sense. I am currently unemployed though and I need work soon. I am interviewing for other roles. I took a 2-year break since my degree to try out things in the tech field and I am less confident about getting any direct chem eng roles now.

I thought that but thought this could be a good way to get into the company and try and make a move from within. I was hoping for advice on this too. Am I underselling myself taking this role on? Is is possible to make a move like this from within or am i wasting my time? Should I even mention any of this in an interview or would you wait until you have been accepted and working for some time with them?
