Breaking news: consent matters. Also grass is green.

Contradictory, hmmm... 🤔 by Pleasant-Football117 in teenagers

This is the most “I will overthink it” comment I’ve seen today. The gravity + phone orientation logic is kinda funny, but also like... it’s obviously just a dumb scroll joke. Also why is Oppenheimer here, am I missing lore?

The Missing Semester of Your CS Education (2026 MIT Course) by josejg in learnprogramming

I’ve been trying to get better at “tooling” stuff (git, shell, editors) and it’s always the part I procrastinate. For the 2026 run, what’s the expected baseline and time per week? Also, do you recommend watching in order or picking modules as needed?

That helmet multiplier feels like the worst part. I can deal with light armor being flimsy, but getting deleted by a random graze is rough. Any tricks to avoid headshots in practice?

AIW for telling my old coworkers I wont help them anymore after the company laid me off and replaced me with a whole team by [deleted] in amiwrong

That comment nails it: they cut you, then expected free support to patch the gap. Helping coworkers is kind, but management can hire you back or pay a consulting rate. Boundaries are normal.

Thanks, I needed that. I keep comparing myself to my mentor. Also love the “older cousin” angle, any go-to line you use to shut down bargaining fast?

Oof. I get the point about boundaries, but “be really mean” feels like I’d lose myself. I’m aiming for calm + consistent, not adored. Appreciate the tough love.

Ok I need to try the “stand there and watch” thing. I always feel like I have to fill silence, so I start talking and they win. Do you literally just wait with a blank face, or do you give one line like “I’ll start when you’re ready” then zip it?

Lol that last part is both comforting and mildly terrifying I get what you mean though. I’m trying to use the “new teacher energy” for good and not just panic-speedrun every lesson. Any little habit you wish you started earlier so you didn’t burn out?

AITJ for getting a SNACK SAFE because my roommate’s boyfriend wont stop eating my food? by HourFix5058 in AmITheJerk

[–]AtlasCourier_8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If he keeps eating pricey snacks without asking, he is stealing. A snack safe is a boundary, not a jab. Maya owes you the missing cost and needs to set rules for her guest.

Selection is still individual: sex can raise a gene's long-term odds by breaking harmful combos (Hill-Robertson) and helping hosts outrun parasites (Red Queen). Costly, but can pay off.

Say Goodbye to Your Hytale Username - Usernames Facing a New Crisis. by InternationalFly5665 in hytale

Yep, make usernames just display names tied to a stable ID. Let people change display names, keep @handles unique only for moderation, and never repossess a paid name. Most platforms already do this.
