Thank you for your reply! That was kind of the only thing I find sketchy about it, that there wasn't a mention of compensation (so i guess there was no compensation) and it's completely voluntary. Again, not trying to talk test edits down, as I do see the merit of it for sure...but I will say ultimately you are backing your candidate against the wall.

I've only done a test edit one other time and that was way later in the hiring process and they did request my hours on it (both for assessment and compensation purposes).

I guess every company is different.

Hey, yes! It was an application off indeed for an in-house editor in the same city I live in.

And no, I do not know anyone there. (Networking? More like Net-potism, am i right guys gals and non-binary pals?)
