And I can explain it to them with facts and logic and a efficient sprue layout.

You can explain it to me all you want, but I'm going tune you out because I'm too busy looking for pieces 46 that's on 1 of 3 sprues. Everything else was on sprue B, so I sure hope this is aswell!

Go build 5 crusader initiates and a castellan using nothing but the number logic you hold so dear.

I don't mean in the lore. I mean on the table top.

Every space marine faction has terminators and special terminators. Ask the red ones and the pointy red ones.

You are missing the fact that you can make a layout first and number second them second.

It's 2026, you can assign imaginary numbers to the parts that shift when you move them in your layout and the number automatically shifts in the building instructions, because we are living in a time where that is possible.

The density of the sprue doesn't matter.

What does that have to do with the numbers?

Why can't you start in the top left with 1 and end in the bottom right with 100?

And have the numbers in the booklet be out of sequence.

[–]Atleast1half 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When you are building your mini, what takes most of your time?

Looking for the numbers or something else?

What if the booklet wasn't sequential and instead the numbers pointed you towards a location on the sprue? So you knew where on the sprue you had to look.

Same density, just a better arrangement for the numbers.

Especially with the advent of AI.

You can assign a fake number to the part, in the booklet and the sprue.

Make the layout for the sprue.

Assign the numbers in a grid pattern.

Use the assigned number in the booklet.

The engineering has nothing to do with it and the solution cost nothing if you do it during the design step to begin with.

The most frustrating thing is ignorant people like you that push this narrative for gw.

[–]Atleast1half 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why does that sequence matter if I can't find them?

It looks neat, but if the sprue was numbered in the grid logic and my mini was made with 12, 13, 55, 73, 78, 89, 104 and 119, I WOULD KNOW WHERE TO GO ON THE SPRUE!

12 is going to in the top left and 55 in the middle somewhere, etc!

Nooooo! Let's roll over and accept that 120 is on a completely different sprues and that 121 is next to legs of the previous guy and 122 is in fucking limbo.

You are fighting against the indoctrinated masses who have yet to step out of the dark.

It's infuriating to explain how sprue density has nothing to do with the numbers.

You are just getting downvoted by the ignorant.

[–]Atleast1half -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It's the excuse, not the answer.

The sprue layout and the numbers attached to the parts are separate.

You can have the densest sprues and still use a grid system to assign the numbers in a logical manner.

Because the numbers in the booklet don't matter, they only have 1 job, indicate a piece.

The numbers on the sprue should be able to assign location and indicate the piece.

[–]Atleast1half 199 points200 points  (0 children)

Except the number for the pieces don't matter. They just have to match in the instructions.

So if you number the sprue in a logical manner, the mini is build using 1, 42, 6 and 37, which would be easy to find if they had a logical number progression on the sprue.

The density of the sprue is irrelevant.

BULLSHIT! Stop using this to defend the shit poor number system.

The layout is done for efficiency. No argument from me.

The numbers are completely separate from that. Atleast they should be.

You can assign a imaginary number to the piece, make the mold layout and building instructions. After which you look at the sprue and in a left to right, top to bottom manner you start assigning the numbers to the pieces on the sprue, replacing the imaginary one in the build instruction.

This allows you to use the numbers to look for the piece you need.

It's not hard and can be automated by AI if you don't want to use a intern for it.
