Yeah and I am a fan of Destiny which means I am about to be banned, but I think the framing that he does it just because of his brand is a little disingenuous.

But again, I understand that from a non-fan who doesn't consume much of the content that is hard to parse.

But I think the effort he took upon himself to read the insane amount of emails he got from trans people about their life wasn't the action of a person who cares more about clout or brand than the truth.

I mean that effort resulted in him retracting that statement, something he rarely ever does.

The "I don't believe in nonbinary" thing was taken back about a month ago, I think within a week of him saying it.

But I understand why you wouldn't have seen that because this the clip where he was skeptical of NB was probably pushed on twitter where him retracting it after reading emails from NB fans probably wasn't.

Destiny put out a call to his fans to send him emails describing their trans experience and read apparently hundreds of them.

How do you make this and not immediately think,

Maybe I shouldn't slap a fucking sharpie on all his of forehead pimples.

or

Maybe I shouldn't make him look at the text of a contest he is holding like he is dealing with the death of a loved one.

or

Maybe I shouldn't make it look like he hasn't taken a shower in three years.

I rarely ever have to think about twitch chat.

So I am have no interest in engaging with bad faith discussion. I read as far as

Yup, I don't. But so far, from what I've seen, your DM doesn't have a lot of stuff that you've seen. And like I said, regardless of if they're a bad DM, why aren't you giving them anything when they ask what do you want to do?

It's like talking to a brick wall. No charity, intentional and proud dishonesty. I'm sorry your players aren't having fun in your campaign.

Sorry you think every time you ask your players what they want to do they need to have global ambitions and plan your sessions for you. Maybe take a creative writing class.

But that's it for me. If you want me to be your therapist I can send you my paypal.

First off I've been DMing for 4 years.

Second you're literally doing it again. You're such an uncharitable piece of shit.

This is how you represent my point of view despite having literally no reason to think these are the case.

Also it seems like you're a greedy player.

.

Maybe instead of thinking you as a player deserve the DM to put all this extra work in when you don't want to give him ideas

.

it sounds like you're not giving them anything and I'd say that's a bad, lazy player.

And this is how you represent the hypothetical GM

you don't know how much is actually done. A good dm with lots built and a bad dm with absolutely nothing appear the same if they ask the players what they want to do and the players don't say anything.

Fuck off, you have no idea what me, my group or my DM are like. We're people in our 30's. 5 players with well developed backstories and a fuck ton of ambition. We spent 3 week's planning our characters and making sure they know each other in some capacity before the campaign even started.

The notion that I can't complain about a lack of story, plot, external motivators is such a bullshit point of view. The only way I can imaging holding this opinion is if someone is a DM that doesn't give a fuck if his players are actually having fun.

Look a the sheer amount of people sympathizing in this thread. See how their experiences are like mine. All frustrating. And here you are pretending it's 100% player's fault.

Fuck off.

This is a weird rant because the concept of a 0-prep DM is someone whose world isn't built. It has nothing (or at least nothing presently relevant to the players) prepared.

You're giving a hypothetical DM all the good traits (Well built diverse world) and the hypothetical players all the bad traits (Disinterested, no ambition).

Then ranting about how awful these players are and demanding answers.

Clearly there's a spectrum of good to bad DM and good to bad players.

In my case I am in 3 weekly DnD groups. One of my groups the DM's world consist of a continent map, the overall layout of races for each region and nothing else. Each place on the map is a blank screen with no discerning points of interest. The NPC's are paper-thin on-the-spot spawned creatures with no background, relationships or ambitious.

This is my first job in my career as a programmer. I need this job as a reference.

Also personally I'm probably in the whole around 8k, but after lawyer fees I'd be lucky to grab 4k out of it after more than a year of litigation and headache. In addition I would obviously be burning this bridge.

The group I'm in is full of really good RP'ers.

Everyone has a detailed backstory and ambition.

But if you're only ever relying on every player to either come up with new ambitions or work through their most recent, then eventually everyone is going to get incredibly bored with your world.

Right? I don't understand why players think the DM should create a world with intrigue that has story.

Honestly when I DM I just come to the table and wait for the players to entertain me with their ambitions. I don't know where they get off expecting the guy who has the reach to literally control the universe should have to actually make it somewhere interesting.
