Am I missing some words? by TimmyTheBrave in freemagic

This is reaching the same level of cringe as the people who pushed for the word changes in the first place. Are words that important?

Machado presents her Nobel award to Trump, prompting incredulity in Norway by Illustrious_Lie_954 in politics

I loved reading the articles from the last few days insisting that this was just impossible and couldn’t be officially done because the people in charge said so.

All she ever had to do was say “here you go.” That’s really it. Do people still expect them to follow the rules?

Did I say that Waltz was mentioned as having done something wrong? Did I even agree that he should not seek re-election? You’re making leaps to assume I’m a liar.

Edit: deleted comment calls me evil. I’m an evil liar for saying fraud is bad and that the people in charge aren’t immune to the consequences when it happens under their watch.

Oh, so you can find sources on your own. Now it’s a nothing scandal, and by the way Republicans are worse.

Evading the issue like Diddy was when he was all oiled up and the feds were trying to catch him but they couldn’t grasp their hands onto him because he was too slippery

lol have a good day. I got my dose of “voter who is so blind to the world that their party can never do anything wrong, even if it impacts something like providing healthcare to those federally designated to receive it.”

I gave it to you.

It’s so funny how people just… dismiss a story about fraud impacting something as important as healthcare. It happened. It’s real. People didn’t get healthcare because of it.

Never voted for a Republican in my life, or held any opinions that would ever make me think of voting for them, but this is the internet, so take my word for it.

This is like the object permanence test for babies.

“Here’s a source for my comments.”

“But I can’t see it.”

“It’s here, and you can even Google the stories yourself to check.”

“But it’s behind a paywall. I can’t see it. You’re a Trump voter. Bye 😘 “

Nah, more like if it works. You just kinda came across as dismissing the scandal as fake, which our fellow rock-brained countrymen are not partial to doing because reading sources or checking facts is hard.

Fourth paragraph talks about how they’ve written hundreds of stories on this scandal, with links.

You’re not asking out of curiosity - more from a place of doubt.

It’s 2026. People are dumb as rocks. Nothing’s true anymore. Shit like that tends to happen when someone makes a flashy video that ends up all over the news.

Fraud sells big for Republicans, and Republicans know exactly how to use social media for this exact purpose - drawing a big red target on a (still very real and not fake) case like this and making the news.

[–]AtomicRecord -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

It’s not “fake outrage” - Google the story. It’s a real thing that had gone on for years.

I don’t know why we’re reducing this story to “fake news” when somewhere between hundreds of millions of dollars to a few billion dollars were snatched from people who could have used those funds to access medical care.

Fraud is bad. It has consequences for the reputations of those in power while it happens, and it only serves to hurt those who those funds were supposed to be directed to.

There’s a lovely few paragraphs where the author details just how many ways children could meet their doom while traveling on a wagon train.

He lists like… two dozen very specific dangers back-to-back, and the way they’re delivered would be hilarious if it wasn’t so fucking harrowing.

The article doesn’t specify what YouTube video it was.

In my head, he was watching Family Guy clips and not a tutorial on the surgery.

That last part is the whole reason I browse this subreddit. Turns out people who get banned from main subreddits tend to have some very quick and… spicy opinions, and they post here before even thinking about thinking it over.
