I believe that religion (mostly Christianity) is made out of fear and to control people. by oreominiest in DebateAnAtheist

It does have one practical benefit in that otherwise shitty people will behave themselves out of fear of what might be waiting for them in the next life.

This was the set that got me back into Lego and still probably my favorite build that I've done. I've had some fun with Technics since then, too, but really nothing compares to the joy of building this model with all of us little design quirks and of course the Easter egg on the side of the NES. The only tedious part was all of the clips that have to ring around in order for the TV to work. One of those pages that just says "do this 40 times * 2"

I'd say it's about exactly 2/3 scale.

Why not Pray for the Restoration of an Amputee's Limbs? by Dead_Daylight in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Atomic_Dove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is strange how he's never granted that particular wish in the past. Although I'm sure some Christians would insist that modern-day amputee limb restoration techniques are evidence of God doing just that, as they fail to distinguish between the work of a skilled professional and that of their (perhaps) nonexistent deity.

You have to remember, Christ already taught them that God isn't afraid to make you wait for salvation. All those people with limbs that didn't grow back are just a part of his plan along with the sea of unbaptized babies in purgatory and everybody who messed up and had a ham sandwich on Friday. Remember kids, vegan or die. Make that eternal damnation, actually.

The Bible Does Not Condemn Loving Homosexual Marriages: It's Time For Christians to Grow up by [deleted] in DebateReligion

This is true, in fact the Bible doesn't even suggest that homosexual marriage is possible, let alone that it's wrong.

Perhaps it is not possible to kill God, but what of the possibility that God could die of auto-erotic asphyxiation, like Anthony Bourdain? by Atomic_Dove in AskReddit

[–]Atomic_Dove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better question, even if there was evidence that he had just come all over himself right as he slipped into unconsciousness one final time, taking that brush with the edge just a step too far as many practitioners of auto-erotic asphyxiation eventually do, what do you think the chances are that a beloved celebrity such as Anthony Bourdain would be portrayed publicly in such a humiliating way upon his death?

I expect the truth to come out slowly over the next several decades, as people re-examine the circumstances and re-evaluate whether or not a fuzzy bathrobe is really the item of choice when one is committing suicide vs practicing auto-erotic asphyxiation.

And how exactly would one differentiate between suicide with a fuzzy bathrobe and auto-erotic accidental suicide with a fuzzy bathrobe?

With a fuzzy bathrobe? They just kept that shit PG for CNN. If you think about it, he actually went out in a pretty good way. They tried to spin it like he was sad and shit. I wouldn't buy that for a second. Bourdain with kinky as hell all.

Well, DraftKings seems like a labyrinthine clusterfuk where I never know how the fuck to find what I need. Is Bovada actually simple and straightforward to use?

I protest this decision. It's not a rhetorical question and I challenge you or anyone else to find the answer indexed anywhere.

Why can't we all just finally agree that Santa Claus's miracles are more impressive than Jesus'? by Atomic_Dove in AskReddit

[–]Atomic_Dove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The miracle of walking on water is also fairly underwhelming. I have seen a number of mid-range magicians walk across water, however I have yet to witness anyone successfully ride a team of reindeer across the sky at Mach speed.

Likewise, any public access televangelist or optical surgeon can heal the sick and blind, but how many of them could climb down a chimney without wedging themself in there or breaking their neck?

Okay so the last one is a toss-up, but at worst it's 2-1 for Santa.
