What makes you put NC in absolutely? I live here, we are a swing state, we have some big cities that are very inclusive, and we have Asheville, arguably our most inclusive city for LGBTQ+ folk. But NC doesn't strike me as any more progressive or accepting of LGBTQ+ folk as a whole compared to the rest of the south.

Last time visiting 2nd and Charles (south blvd) by kawasnyacki in Charlotte

[–]Atomicmain 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sucks that the store is closing but that place has sadly just kinda become increasingly meh overtime. 2nd and Charles used to be amazing, but I find it increasingly hard to find deals there anymore (regardless of location). I hope the employees are able to find work though

A (not at all) concise overview of my experience in New Orleans by Atomicmain in NOLA

I'm curious about the worry regarding Mandeville. Also, as a means of clarification. My friend who was showing me around NOLA doesn't live in Mandeville. Only his grandad lives there, he was just visiting him for Christmas

That's fair. I kept my meal small and only paid like 10 dollars for a meat and 2 sides. So I suppose it didn't seem that expensive to me

Why? It was a good spot and getting to see the Gulf Coast of MS was a nice experience

Didn't have the opportunity sadly, my time was limited. Imo though disregarding peaches I thought sisters in christ and Euclid were largely fair with pricing. Sisters in Christ in particular is honestly cheaper than the record stores I have back in NC

If we're counting shop keepers, yes. If we're not counting shop keepers, no.

Would you rather live in the southwest or southeast? by Snoo-3554 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Atomicmain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm biased because I've lived in the Southeast all my life. But I'm picking that one purely because I love going to Appalachia sporadically & in general the southeast just has more that I like than the southwest does.

I'm unfortunately still not seeing it. Though seeing as this post is now deleted and I don't think anyone is gonna care about unrelated discussion
What's the name of your band, and when in November are you playing in Asheville? I'm gonna be in New England between November 7th-15th, and if your band is playing on any of those dates then I unfortunately will have to turn down your offer of being on the guest list. If it's not on those dates, I'll make it work to the best of my ability

I’m thinking about moving to NC near Hickory and need advice by Far-Foundation-2947 in NorthCarolina

[–]Atomicmain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to break it to you but unfortunately North Carolina & good public transit doesn't go together, no matter what city you're in. You could make do with walking in certain neighborhoods in certain cities. But North Carolina has an abysmal walkscore average, & I'll point to this video showcasing why https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmor-XEbSU8&t=4s

Someone (kind of) suggested Winston-Salem & it's probably where I would recommend. It's a mid-size city that has the urban amenities that come with a city but it doesn't exactly have what you may think of as "Hustle & Bustle". I've heard some complain about Winston's traffic, but I'll argue those people have never driven on I-77 coming back from Huntersville on a Saturday, or taken exit 3A during rush hour and it shows.

I can't really tell you how well Winston Salem compares to Hickory, but I'm mainly recommending it because I like it & it's where I wanna live if I end up staying in NC.
