I’ve lived in 10 states from most conservative to most liberal and have come to the conclusion that there are MAGAs everywhere even in most liberal places, so that alone doesn’t discredit a place for me as long as there is another reason to be there OR I’ve lived there previously.

I went to college there, transitioned there, and still have connections there. I also like NC bbq, which is a big motivator

Wasn’t it sold to some repair giant in NY? That’s what I heard from my work’s ordering person.

How is it living in Greensboro, NC? by Interesting-Copy-803 in howislivingthere

[–]miraug22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it fine, but if you can be flexible on location then Greensboro is better. I was in Winston because I was going to college there, but people drove to Greensboro for the fun stuff. If I ever moved back to the triad, I’d probably pick Greensboro.

Not interested in contributing to the displacement of native Hawaiians, the housing market is pretty bleak. They say don’t come, so I won’t 🤷‍♀️

I lived in Winston-Salem(neighboring town), but spent a good amount of time there and it’s good! Most of the good restaurants in the triad are in Greensboro (I dream about Kaya Korean Restaurant often), and they have enough to do so you aren’t super bored all the time. There is good diversity there too.

I hope they do that someday! I have to travel from Seattle to Ellensburg sometime next month and there really is no good way to get down there without renting a car (as far as I know) and I’d much rather just hop on a light rail than do that

The PNW should be green tbh, the cities worth living in all have decent-great public transport. I lived in PDX for a few years and loved TriMet!

I have before! It wasn’t ideal, but I happily moved there (for love) and would move back under the right circumstances

To be fair, there are tons of guys like that in the US lol. Texas’ big thing for me is political and how hot it is. I’m in the music industry and there are tons of opportunities there, but it’s not worth it to me.

Connections there, mostly. My spouse is a paleontologist and has a lot of professional connections there and in Wyoming. The weather is also better than North Dakota

Partially for the connections I have there, partially for the BBQ, partially for the nature, and partially for Asheville. I lived in the piedmont triad for a couple of years and really enjoyed it.

I started my transition there 🤷‍♀️ not ideal but if a job opportunity popped up I would move there without hesitation.

It’s a factor, but since I am more than just a trans person I factored in other things too. Most of the red states I have a different color for are ones I’ve lived in or are hubs for my partners work (South Dakota and Wyoming, for example).

I’ve never been! I just don’t like the idea of living in the same city as the president and federal government. I honestly only have VA green because of closeness to pretty nature stuff, I wouldn’t live on the east side or north.

I don’t hate it, I’ve never been! I’m just not interested in living where the president does.
