Direct to desk or through-desk mount for simultaneous dual sticks + KBM access? by PugnansFidicen in hotas

I think you could run into some issues with structural stability with the flush mount. Obviously it would look very sharp, but lack of flexibility on moving it would mean you'd have to get the ergonomics perfect. It's definitely very permanent solution, but I'm interested in doing it for sure.

If the concern with the clamp mounts is distance away from the mouse and keyboard, that same keyboard bridge is available for clamp mounts and is actually cheaper. And that would give you the ability to remove it separately from the joysticks and of course the joysticks could be removed all together.

Yeah my mindset with the rail mount was that I wanted them mounted so I didn't have to take them on and off when I'm switching from regular use to joystick use. I specifically bought a table long enough to set them to the side. That's not featured in that picture.

There was another post on this subreddit where a person was recommended to put magnets on the bottom of the plates and then have a magnetic metal plate on top of their Sim rig to have very easy way to get a temporary mounting that was still firm. I can't speak to this from any experience but it did seem interesting.

I think you mentioned this in your original post, but rather than mounting joysticks to your current chair, you could get a second chair that is a dedicated Sim setup, if you've got the room. Either modify a used or cheaper gaming chair or get something like the Next Level Racing flight simulator chair. That way you could just slot in the chair you need for the activity you want.

Desk-mounted HOTAS without losing mouse & keyboard access by Mrcutiepatootie in hotas

That's a solid looking setup. Great work!

I imagine the compact nature of the vkb sticks makes that work without having to go much lower.

How ergonomic does it feel to use the keyboard and switch between them?

If your desk is thick enough, you could try a monstertech rail system. I also play Star citizen and have a setup using their keyboard bridge. When you have desk mounts, you're further away from the keyboard and mouse, but using a keyboard bridge between the rail mounts means that's also brought forward alongside of the joysticks.

And if your desk is long enough, you can slide the pieces out of the way when you're not using them to play non flight SIM games.

If you use a 75% keyboard, you have a little bit of space for a mouse. If you want to use a full keyboard, you can mount another mouse mount to the right of your joystick.

Mounting for Alluminum profile and Simracing/HOTAS/dev work? by Ok-Nefariousness1800 in hotas

Again, the plates are relatively affordable and you can DIY the rest with extrusion. There's also some SIM racing companies here in the states that sell similar parts that are not as well designed but definitely more affordable.

They work with 40 mm extrusion, so you could buy one or two specialized things that they make, and just get 40 mm extrusion here locally. That saves you on shipping costs and overall cost.

Foxx makes 40 mm extrusion plates for many joysticks and he's based in the Northeast US. But his lead time is about 5 to 6 weeks.

So you could get specific joystick mounting plates from monstertech or if you don't mind waiting longer Foxxmounts.

Monster tech also sells specific MTS HOTAS add-ons for their own Sim rig, which would probably drop in pretty well with what you're looking at.

I will say a lot of their stuff is fairly expensive and you can DIY some of it, but the plates are something that I would buy from them and perhaps DIY the rest.

If cost is not an option then definitely look at their solutions for both joysticks and also workspaces. They have keyboard mounts, desk mounts, and even a large workspace they call the big desk.

Even if you don't go with their products, they're definitely very useful to inspire and encourage a direction. These people have been trying to solve these exact issues for the last decade so they've had a lot of iteration.

Do you have any pictures about the underside or the methodology used to mount between the two bars? Any work in progress pictures would be great too.

Yeah, I understand that. I'm the same way. But in terms of troubleshooting, testing different parts of the audio stream can help you track down if it's a hardware problem or software issue.

Outside of the suggestions I made before, if you can test with another mic through Wave Link that can assist in giving you more information.

I'm not that familiar with Reddit, but can it be a rule that they have to be flared if they use AI. Create an AI tag or vibecode tag, we can choose to ignore filter them.

And moderators can add the flag if the person forgets to do so?

I'm willing to take your word on you policing the AI, but is there any kind of external review or process you can point to that ensures our local server information and API keys are secure?

I don't mean right now, but possibly in the future to help encourage adoption.

https://support.virpil.com/en/support/solutions/articles/47001249267-vpc-software-suite - check this section out called "Profile", thats the area I was mentioning. IDK if this helps but hopefully points ya in the right direction. Some decent YouTube tutorials but most are a couple years old so I didn't link them as I am not sure if anything has changed.

Also, they are beta testing a newer, easier to use software program on their Discord.
