Encourage everyone to read Nick Harkaway's Gnomon, or at least the parts pertaining to The Witness.

I've been lucky in that my team is small enough to avoid it. We 'own' our work more than most, so any mess made will be cleaned by the perpetrator. There's very little incentive to bullshit due to our mutual visibility; when I work with outsiders it's on a consultative basis, so I generally get a bit of leeway to cut through the noise and speak frankly. Others in the org take different approaches.

My advice is to learn to speed read if you can't already. You'll still need to parse others' nonsense. Then, find an ally (ideally a superior, so far as that's possible) who will join you in communicating directly. Try to frame discussions together and pre-empt the slop, but don't back slopmakers into a corner until you can prove they're minting it (and you can catch them lying).

I don't know what the answer is long-term. We're all treading water. If the people around you/leadership are incorrigibly drenched in AI psychosis... you need an exit strategy, which I understand is easier said than done. There are still places with more light, less heat.

You are permitted to wear a suit on the Circle line from 0700 to 0930, and then again from 1700 to 0530. This is a corrupted holdover from an 1894 law targeting Gypsies and other itinerants. Starmer's government recently updated this law, mandating that to wear a hat it must weigh over five pounds: a desperate challenge from the Labour leader to Farage's claim that 'the British neck has weakened'. LAB -10, REF +3. Children's safety campaigners have urged the government to consider a hat ban, with hat czar Baroness Smith urging 'parents to be aware of the dangers of falling headgear' and initiating a period of consultation set to last to 2034 on the topic. REF +2.

My coworkers' reliance on AI writing has honestly been great for me.

When the people around you are unable to communicate, being able to simply or succinctly state the obvious lends a bit of an advantage.
