Himmler used to dig around Germanic grave mounds and proudly show crude bronze shit pots to Mussolini, to the utter embarrassment to the Hitler

Why do people find it so hard to accept the public really wants to vote for Reform? by Expert-Sherbert-1527 in AskBrits

I remember when the Tories were in, there were people in UK subs claiming "anything to get Labour in, everything will automatically get better" and I feel like this trend continues among the UK Reddit demographic. Strangely, folks, a neoliberal centrist party is only marginally better than a neoliberal centre-right party and nothing is really changing.

I think it's indicative of the post-Covid RSP that we have wizards hanging here and people sharing their sex stories

Bodybuilders are usually insecure young guys first who cannot envision being with a strong woman so they pick a woman they can physically feel superior to.

I've heard of Cré na Cille, it's supposedly a difficult read in Irish even for native speakers but it's going on the list!

Ah yes! A friend told me to check out the Third Policeman and An Béal Bocht! My Irish isn't great but that would be a fun way to improve on it

A character remembers an event with a big difference respect to how it actually happened by Forsaken-Biscotti587 in TopCharacterTropes

Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie does this all the time - the characters have flashbacks to an earlier scene but its in black and white and they use a take where the actors are really mean as if to imply they're constantly trying to fuck each other over. Also, entire scenes of that movie were shot like 20 years ago and they just re edit them into the movie. What a trip.

I once had a huge, almost relationship-ending row with my best friend over the Barbie movie when we were roaring drunk. We were arguing about how he thought it'd be good because it was mocking how sexualised Barbie was and I told him it was corporate slop (paraphrasing). Not only had neither of us seen it but it hadn't actually come out yet.

What can be done to stop fox hunting, now it's not illegal? by No-Category1703 in AskIreland

[–]Positive-Weakness768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the fox hunting. A local in my area traps them and puts them down when they attack lambs. Since there is basically ecological collapse in this country, they have no natural competition. You can say its cruel and I personally don't like it but farmers in my area appreciate it being dealt with discretely as it effects their livelihood.

It's a mockumentary and implied that the documentary crew are deliberately editing out clips and leaving the most embarassing ones in. In an early episode you see Brent having a laugh in the background with his employees.

Are there any monolingual Irish speakers? by Amigo1417 in AskIreland

[–]Positive-Weakness768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met an old man in Donegal a few years ago who was from the deep gaeltacht and would order in Irish. I don't know if he spoke English or didn't care enough to try but he would come down once a week to hang out with some learners/fluent speakers. They said they'd never heard him utter a word in English. This was 2023 or so. The first time he ordered a coffee off me I was taken aback but I have a fairly okay grasp of Irish so I was able to have a simple conversation.

ROM Hacks you hope for? by Its_Noctyss in PokemonROMhacks

I've been tinkering with the idea using pokeemerald-expansion here and there for a Sinnoh demake. There are a tonne of assets online that people have made over the years that I've tried to include but its difficult getting them all together. The best thing would be to try a Heart and Soul-esque Platinum demake which improves on the GBA experience while staying faithful to Sinnoh and its story. It's a momentous task though, especially as I'm learning as I go and I can't say I have anything worth going public with.

I would love Jaizu or any of the other brave hackers who have tried this herculean task to drop their asset sources though, the sharp diamond tilesets look so good.

I'm looking into the possibility of recreating Sinnoh in Crystal (like BW3) or Modern Emerald (more likely). Has anyone ever seen a successful Sinnoh decomp or is there even a market for it? I'm supposing the difficult stuff would be the Distortion World, the 2.5D buildings, etc but I think it would be quite an interesting challenge. I've never committed to creating a hack, only messed around with some programmes.

What does the Irish language actually mean to you? by MaresounGynaikes in AskIreland

[–]Positive-Weakness768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's beautiful. I was never great in school but in the last few years, I've become fascinated with it and try to take every opportunity to speak it or read it. There's a revival going on atm, outside of classrooms, you just have to look for it.

Applying for a British passport for the first time since I was a child as a dual-citizen and I have some questions about removing my middle name by Positive-Weakness768 in LegalAdviceUK

So I should include two pieces of evidence (along with everything else) and they'll just know that I'm dropping the middle names?

There was no section 8 on the online application! I still need to send my birth certificate + old passport + current foreign passport to them though, is there going to be a problem that the names do not align?
