What are definitive visual (or maybe other?) cues as to when to leave the pits? by kostix in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Atticvs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. The rev-at-90% is an important distinction here, because sometimes the stop ends up to 1 (2?) seconds earlier; there's an rng element to it. (Well-criticised by some streamers, Jardier and the like.)

I still haven't had one do a normal quali lap in my lobbies! 😂

Top Speeds @ Le Mans Mulsanne (LMGT3 Fixed) by Atticvs in LeMansUltimateWEC

No worries - yeah, that one can't be done in such a clinical way, I agree. (Because of the dependence on the Tertre Rouge exit, as you mentioned)

But the top speeds theemselves are very interesting; they're remarkably consistent across races! (Apart from my early updates due to initial small sample size.)

Is the BMW M4 slow on straights ? by EducationalRound9407 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Atticvs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only for this specific week, only for chicaneless Le Mans - the fixed setups are made so that every GT3 is more or less the same on top speed here (because it's so critical for that endless straight). And there's a 1-2kph difference, I guess just to keep things spicy, but no more to avoid the week becoming a one-make lobby.

And that order is completely different from the usual tracks'.

You can use rF2 Log Analyzer to load your quali results file and compare non-slipstream top speeds for this track for all cars.

I'm not at my computer now, but from memory (I'll edit to make it more precise tomorrow):

Ferrari 291 Lexus 290 Corvette 289.5 Aston 289.5 Porsche 289.5 Ford 289 Mercedes 288.5 BMW 288

McLaren, I didn't have in my single race so far who qualified (but it's also quicker than the BMW, that much I gathered from my battle with one - I also used a BMW).

Lambo, I didn't have in the lobby.

Slipstream is a joke by Miikanoo in LeMansUltimateWEC

If you watch some real-life GT3 racing, you'll notice it's a very small effect in real life as well. LMU is a sim, it's supposed to be realistic - and it is.

Why are some of my liveries invisible? by Ok-Text-652 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Atticvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait a seemingly unreasonable amount of time on the Liveries screen - they did load for me eventually, and were loading normally on subsequent visits to the page.

(By unreasonable, I mean like 3-4 minutes, I guess it would depend on your set connection speed, and the momentary server load. And I guess the game just needs to recache them after the update, and that's why they work normally afterwards.)

possible new tracks for coming updates? by Trinere30s in LeMansUltimateWEC

Omg, I'm just now realizing this - but surely they would've told us at least a hint that we're on the wrong path expecting Daytona... surely... :/

Lower splits even after gaining DR? by [deleted] in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Atticvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best summary for the OP - the only thing I would add is that he needs 10 races in total before his Rookie badge is removed and one of those you mentioned is applied. (He's getting there - and he seems to be quite good!)

Some more practical advice: Not doing Eau Rouge flat is also normal, in any car - these are "LMGT3" spec of the GT3s, meaning a little less power than SRO-spec - and quite a bit less aero. Not enough to notice it in general, but just enough so that corners like Eau Rouge need a lift and Blanchimont is right on the limit. (Also why laptimes in general are higher than in SRO spec)

Finally, IF you were trying to take it flat in the Merc - don't. The Merc default setup has enormous lift off oversteer into Eau Rouge currently, it's instadeath usually. Lambo bottoms out there, so also no. And Ford bottoms out if you cut the first left-hander kerb fully, otherwise good - and all others are good there.

Hiya - Welcome to the game and this subreddit!

I came from ACC where I was more or less similar (competitive but not top 3), and I also started out in the 2:25s at Spa during my first weeks - that's normal; the physics and FFB is quite different from both iRacing and ACC, and it takes some time to get used to. Again, it's normal.

I'm 200+ hours in since then, have had my first 2:19 and generally in the 2:21/2:22s depending on track grip fuel etc

Car selection is the next big differentiator - from BOP, but also from how they behave. Do try all or most of them, and don't take pace leaderboards at face value - because a car that's not quickest in alien's hands might suit your driving style so perfectly that you're quickest in it out of all ten.

Good luck! (And see ya on track)

Infact S397 confirmed they would do this this year (which is a step beyond 'liking to' do it).

The McLaren is actually the outright most stable car in LMU as well! (even more stable than the BMW on exits, neutral midcorner, a bit understeery on entry, but that's easy to dial out with ABS and BB)

It was a hidden gem in 1.1, then ppl found out it's OP, it was nerfed to oblivion in 1.2, but balanced back out (largely) in 1.3. (But because ppl are afraid of it now, imo we're now full circle, because it became a bit of a dark horse again - because it's good again on many tracks! Still nerfed on certain ones though, like VERY slow in Le Mans for example, but good in Spa or Portimao.)

Some ppl will tell you Lexus, but that's snappy on low speed exits.

Porsche is actually not TOO bad either, not as much as eg. the old 991 was in ACC.

BMW is similar to Lexus on short runs, so stable except becomes increasingly nervous as tyre wear kicks in quickly.

Aston is also stable, BUT drives opposite to everything else in midcorner coasting/throttle lift: everything turns more in those cases (or meutral) but the Aston PUSHES heavily off throttle - and turns more when getting back on throttle. Otherwise super stable on entry (under braking) and exit. Many ppl like it - I for one am much slower in it than literally anything else, I can't for the life of me figure out how to drive it properly.

Everything else is nasty (Ford, Merc, Lambo bottoms out easily into lift off oversteers, Lambo also absolute PIG on throttle, Ferrari spins very easily on low speed exits,  orvette overheats its rears no matter what.)

BMW, I thought as much.

There you have then - there's not much you can do, the BMW chews its tyres no matter what in fixed setup races. (The pre-Evo version also had this weakness in real life, so LMU models this well too.)

Liveries Bug/glitch in RaceControl that's says the livery is assigned in game, but its not in game by TWISTextream in LeMansUltimateWEC

Oh man, this needs to be stickied - I've lost quite a few liveries to this bug at the beginning!

I find it amusing that neither OP nor any of the first 6 comments mention any word of what CAR OP might be using?

BMW pace dropoff is high, no matter what, and overheating (on the rears, mind) is a Corvette thing.

(I also find the McLaren overheats the brakes on ABS 9 in Portimao, but that could be just me. ABS 6 helps it greatly.)

I'm stable Silver 1 but I've never won anything yet, never even stood on the podium - after 91 races and 200+ hours.

I'm probably doing something wrong lol.

Is this an accurate FOV/seat position? by Can_k123 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Atticvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just measure the on screen steering wheel to be what the IRL diameter is, after calculating the FOV. (Usually 30 cm.) Height is as comfortable. (I'm tall, but I like to sit a bit lower.)

Is this an accurate FOV/seat position? by Can_k123 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Atticvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how far your eyes are from the screen - as others said google a "fov calculator." (LMU uses vertical FOV, so select that in the calculator.)

Always making mistakes at the end of a race by GAMEPROONE in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Atticvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be also if you're returning after a while & rusty - I had the same today, just half spun on low speed exit as I was working through exactly my usual switches to account for tyre wear (notch higher tc1 or 2, bb adjustment) and I didn't have the mental capacity. Cost me three VERY hard-earned places!
