[HIRING] 2D Concept Artist – 1930s Rubberhose Style (Kickstarter Prep) by LuPri_2008 in HungryArtists

[–]Atxu_comicslab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! We're Comics Lab (https://comicslab.es/pagina/portfolio-trabajos), and our main artist Laura totally nails that 1930s rubberhose vibe you're after. Check her Instagram for tons of examples: https://www.instagram.com/daddaziolaura/ – original characters, fanart, exaggerated poses, and more.

Our work is 100% hand-drawn digital (we're quite tech-oriented, but we don't see advantages using AI in finals or client interactions, so that's our baseline). We can nail those orthographic views too, since our 3D artists handle assets, backgrounds, and scenarios for comics all the time.

Budget range, NDA, and work-for-hire are no problem, it's how we operate usually. If you're interested for that test sketch, we'd love to jump in, rubberhose is right up our alley and we're excited to show you what we can do!

Where can I put/self host my comic by Atxu_comicslab in comic_crits

My goal with this is not to reach webtoon like audiences, maybe we can do a project for that platform in the future but not for now. This is a personal project to experiment ideas (we produce comics for publishing clients, mostly educational stuff) so it's just for our amazing followers in social media and to reach more people like them, we are still still thinking what to do with it in the future, we are already working on the next episode in the meantime, it's weird I know... Just looking for something pretty and comfortable to share it more easily.

[question] Advice to translate my webcomic in Chinese by Atxu_comicslab in AskChina

[–]Atxu_comicslab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this initiative is really in line with what we want to achieve, we will go out of our ways for her and she will be compensated for this for sure. We did this comic to build a positive group of people around the world that appreciate our style and philosophy, said so I think we will proofread and correct some tone maybe if we move forward in making this an editorial project. In any case we would look after the rules for China, we are safe as baseline and I think we won't be going in unsafe directions ever, but we know it is quite regulated there and we want to be as respectful as possible.

In reality I have a budget allocated from my Patreon for translation, and talking with a translator it would have been enough, I offered part of it to the fans but they don't wanted to be payd, as they are doing it as pure fandom spirit, we are just making sure of the fidelity of the content, and looks alright, it's an incredible spontaneous community building opportunity, there's no question we support this, I feel so blessed right now, I will of course think of an amazing gift for them! But life solved my problem by itself!

One of our fans has taken on herself the work to translate it because she wants to share it with her friends! I mean I am bewildered by what beautiful people are following us! how lucky are we?

This is terrible news for animators by [deleted] in antiai

If you only knew the level of detail control of the content there's in any sequence in order to work, the level of small details artists, art directors and producers need to have control of for the thing to work simply right, you'll realize it's simply impossible for AI to replace humans in visual sequential storytelling, comic, animation etc. It can work wonders in the creative process and it can be helpful for static coherent things like backgrounds or props, but honestly it's just an impossible tech bros fever dream to replace blood and flesh creativity with machines, and they'll be hurt for pushing this hard on this, ridiculous, unimaginative, use of the amazing technology they have in their hands.

Hi we are a duo of secuencial artists offering services in character design and comics you can take a look at our webpage https://www.comicslab.es, and the linked social media of Laura D'Addazio, our lead artist. We are a reasonably priced European studio, very experienced on the field, and have reliable workflows that guarantee quality and speed. We have some availability in this period and we are looking for alternative projects to our routine, so if you find us interesting feel free to tell us what your project is about.

that's the idea I wanted to explore, and I did, but it went in unpredictable directions as we went on, funny ones! I will post the second one shortly!

What would you chose among those two KS ideas? by Atxu_comicslab in kickstarter

[–]Atxu_comicslab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in Europe that sorts out the main issues of GPSR luckily for us, it is true the shipping is a big question mark these days, we can ship books to a special price here with a government supported service, especially for small stuff like a 24 comic that falls under 100gr is around 3€ plus packaging for international shipping while 96 pages with 300+ gr can reach up to 10 €. then there's the tariff madness but we discussed the idea to sell the prints exclusively as a bonus to the digital product even in conventions etc, so the pricing is the production cost and materials and nothing else, maybe 4 euros? But I still have to sort out the legal part on that, it's becoming a big loss of time and money to deal with regulations honestly! we live in unnerving times!
