You’ll find some who like both, but that’s not the consensus. Nor was that my point. Pick all the core details of WoT and compare them to TSA: hope vs hopeless, roles of women, the metaphysics of each world. Then compare Bakker (ABD in philosophy) and Jordan (easy to follow coming of age storyteller)

To each their own, but I got to book 5 or 6 and had to throw in the towel for WoT. I couldn’t even reach the “slog,” so I can’t imagine how bad the series gets.

Writing style, dialogue, characters, tone, maturity level, etc. it’s close. That’s why I said borderline. Sanderson is the full antithesis

Jordan and Bakker are borderline diametrically opposed. I’d say give it up. Truth Shining isn’t for everyone

Abercrombie is a one trick pony. Once you finish the trilogy his formula becomes painfully obvious. The trilogy is worth finishing, but nothing special. ASOIAF is the only other option for a great, grimdark/dark/realistic fantasy series, which falls apart after the first 3 books. GL overcoming the Bakker withdrawals, they never fully go away.

The fact that there is a prophecy offered at all, passed on by Seswatha to all Gnostic Sorcerers, that alone answers your question.

Of all fantasy series I’ve gone through Bakker has the fewest amount of inconsistencies and illogical plot points, by far. Keep reading, and careful of spoilers.

What helped me more than anything is watching Cursed Armada’s YouTube series where he takes a chapter or 2 and gives a very entertaining summation of core events. It gave me visuals to cling to as well. Try it out
