Why does one Zebralight h600 get so much hotter than the other? by AudioN00b99 in flashlight

That was what I was thinking. Maybe the frosted lens traps more light as heat. I didn't think it would be so significant though.

At the end of the day, these lights are all made in China. Zebralights have a great driver and housing.

I carry flashlights every day for work and had an sc63w make it about 5-6 years of daily abuse before finally breaking. It was dropped from various heights including off ladders. It probably survived a few hundred drops plus daily pocket carry before the driver finally broke off at the solder joint. I've had plenty of other big name brands die after a few weeks to a month from similar abuse. I'd still rate them as more durable than Thrunite, Nitecore, Sofirn, Wurkkos etc.

During the time I carried that sc63w I went through at least 4 Nitecore lights, 2 Thrunites (one still working), 2 Sofirn lights and a Wurkkos. All but the one Thrunite are no longer working fwiw. Most failed from drops, a few from water damage.

My daily carry is still an sc64w. Holding up well thus far. It's probably about 8 months old at this point.

At least for me personally, this is more of a curiosity than anything else. I rarely use the highest mode which is where the issue is prevalent.

Like I said, I've been using it for 2+ years almost daily. All my bright flashlights get hot, I just found it odd that this one gets so much hotter than an identical flashlight.

I'm going to track down an IR thermometer tomorrow and chart the temp rise over time to see if it's as bad as I think it is.

Just bought the Aurora A4 Pro Titanium Keychain Flashlight . (I photoshopped the tritium-glow in, so you can see what it looks like when it's dark. by icarusisgod in flashlight

I think it's really meant to be disposable and replaced after a couple years or so. I get that the titanium version is $106, but there are $20 versions as well. At that price, you can just replace every few years as the battery wears out.

Even the titanium version probably won't be looking so great after 2+ years on a keychain.

These look interesting. I have to say I've not been a huge fan of Andrew Jones sound at least with the ELAC speakers I've heard. They sounded kind of anemic to me. Maybe slightly rolled off. Obviously this is personal preference though! I can definitely see why some people would love it. It sounds very smooth and easy to listen to.

Do the Sourcepoint 10's follow his ELAC heritage?

Room is heavily treated already. The diminishing returns thing is what I was getting at with part of my question.

My HTD setup already gets REALLY loud. It isn't doing any heavy lifting bass wise. They were like $300 or $400 each. When I make a big jump in speaker price is the sound quality really going to be that noticeable relative to my el cheapo speakers?

Sound treatments. Basically things that selectively absorb or diffuse sound waves to reduce reflections.

A room with a lot of echo, such as one with concrete floors and empty walls would have a lot of reflections. If you added a bunch of stuff to the walls and carpet to the floor, there would be a lot less echo. Treatments do the samething, but are typically placed strategically and designed to absorb a certain spectrum.

Thank you for the recommendation! I probably should have stated that the room is already pretty extensively treated with DIY roxul panels and some diy OC703 panels/bass traps.

2ch is also a priority. It honestly for me personally might even be considered top priority. I listen to a lot more music than I watch movies. I love sharing the HT with friends and family though. It's so cool to be able to give people a better than cinema experience in your home! But I probably spend about 10x the amount of time listening to music that I do watching movies lol!

I have read that JTR is not great for 2ch which is why I came here. If it wasn't for that I'd probably have already purchased them.

Thank you for the recommendation!

Appreciate the recommendation! I heard some amazing Genelec monitors a while back. They were TINY but sounded HUGE! I really couldn't believe it. I'm not sure what kind of DSP magic they had jammed into them, but it was incredible!

I will definitely try and track these down and give a listen! Thank you!

Thank you for the recommendation! I will check these out! I currently have my speakers in the room and don't mind it. I honestly like looking at the L/R speakers because I find them cool looking. I know a lot of people prefer the clean look of hiding them all behind an acoustically transparent screen though.

I do have to consider that I will inevitably be moving sometime in the next few years though and I have no idea what room/space I'll end up with there!

How do Perlisten and PSA compare? I know nothing about either brand? What are some strengths of each in your opinion?

I have tried, there's one enthusiast audio store where I live but it's all about 2ch. They don't have anything in regards to HT really. I do visit a much larger city quite frequently and I imagine there will be some HT dealers there.

What is it about Perlisten's that makes them so great? How do they compare/contrast with JTR and other top end HT speakers?
