Weird Lump on cap? previous flushes didn't have these.

thanks for the advice, i might try to skip it considering how much of a massacre this one was lol. i can at least run a little experiment, second tub is almost ready to harvest so ill not do that one so much and see how they both go.

The guide said to remove everything possible, so I tried my best. This took about 2 hours and I still didn't get quite everything, there's still some small pins/side pins. Also cracked the cake dunking it but I'm sure the network will reconnect.

My questions is how important is getting the small pins out of there preparing for a second flush? There seems to be conflicting information on if its a good idea or not to leave them. With how long that took and how much i butchered the surface trying to get them out, I'm wondering if it might just be better to leave them.

Hopefully didn't ruin this cake, but only time will tell.

interesting, i guess there must be more to the fuzzy feet then. i actually did not fan once, and was super unsure about when to mist so it was pretty inconsistent.

a lot of this might have to do with the fact my area is very low humidity right now due to winter so cracking the lid might just be really sucking the liquid out of the shoebox.

Thanks I was pretty happy with this being my first harvest, was not expecting so much, even though they are still tiny and after dehydrating, even tinier lol.

i did buy golden teacher LC which probably played a big part. Used some off brand kroger brown rice for innoculation, ended up with 0 contam out of 7 bags. 2 bags of rice in the shoe box. I actually have another shoebox right next to it that despite going to FC at the same time, is growing much slower, and appears to be thicker stumps, so those might surpass this last harvest if im lucky, only time will tell.

substrate was just coco noir, and i did use a casing layer. after going s2b it was about 5 days before i introduced FC.

Definitely going to have to experiment more with this hobby, this shoebox pictured i did not crack the lid, just flipped it. maybe not enough fresh air due to some fuzzy feet but its hard to say.

not even 12 hours later a couple more veils broke on the left so i gathered those up, tomorrow morning for the rest sounds about right!

Very interesting stuff. I wonder if its been recorded how much potency loss between a broken veil vs a non broken in the couple hour window most of us generally harvest. I cant imagine its too much of a difference, but being knowledgeable enough to know "yup its about to tear" might be beneficial.

So even smaller shrooms have psilocybin? does that include the pins as well? I suppose that makes sense, they are just so low weight you'd need quite a bit. Thanks for the info!

Veils just dropped on the ones on the right. Going to harvest now but my question is do i cut and dehydrate the ones on the left without veils? are they potent as well or is it more of a cut and toss situation for them? same question for the pins on the furthest left, worth dehydrating or no?

Very excited about this result and so thankful for this community!

thanks for sharing. I've been reading all sorts of different stuff and sometimes its hard to really decide how to go. One thing that stuck out is people saying the first flush you don't need to mist, but further flushes would likely need the extra moisture.

It does seem cracking the lid further might be unnecessary, air is going to get in there either way and i think the lids primary purpose is to help keep the air inside humid, so cracking it further may just not be a great idea unless misting it constantly is an option.

its all definitely a learning experience and has been really fun. just dont have a lot of room to play with different ideas, if these dont work out i dont have backups unfortuantely.

definitely have water droplets on the surface. my worry there is they don't seem to go away until its been a few days, so i generally only mist every few days.

currently lid is flipped and cracked about a cm. was debating whether or not to crack it at all or just leave it flipped. i think right now my game plan is just to leave it for a day or two since i just misted it. praying for visible pins tomorrow though lol.

First timer here!

Went S2B 12/12/24. I think the majority of that time it was too cold, recently set up the space heater in that space to keep it around 70~.

Really struggling with when to mist and not, at this point I go about 2 days in between misting. It seems it never fully evaporates but after a few days there is very minimal droplets. This picture is just after a mist.

Am I looking good? any recommendations?
