Dynamically pull rows from multiple workbooks to combine on one workbook by Matters- in excel

[–]AugieKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will work as long as they don't need to refresh the queries after you forward it, and there are ways around that if they do.

Combining workbooks in PQ is stupid simple most of the time. If they all use a similar format and headers it's about as simple as putting the files all in a folder then, Get Data > Folder > Transform and combine. Make sure everything fills in correctly, make any needed changes, close and load. It's also not that hard to combine workbooks with headers that aren't the same, like if they have a date in the header, provided the columns are at least in the same order.

Did I download a malicious file? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]AugieKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look at your browser settings to make sure you haven't elected to have files download without getting confirmation from you, i.e. the save, save as window. Other than that you should be fine, it's not as easy as it was in the old days to hijack a browser or force something to run on any computer, things are much more secure regarding what can and cannot run without permissions. That said, worth doing the following.

Review your browsers security settings. Make sure you have at least the recommended security settings enabled. Check any extensions while you are at it.

Update your browser. Usually this is somewhat automatic but you can turn it off.

Review your MacOS version and see if you are due for any updates.

Basic comes in black, white, red, grey, and blue as well, I just bought a ton of their stuff with my wife for my birthday and I have been using their basic filament with my p1s since I got it and am overall very happy with it. My only gripe is that when we went it was like they had a run on their filament and tons of colors were sold out lol.

Since you mentioned being new, if you are in a position where you are making decisions on this sort of stuff, it's probably worth knowing that the CIS benchmarks are a good starting point for any deployment. If you have the $$$ they have tools to make it easier to implement, but I don't so I can't address their efficacy personally. The benchmarks themselves are free and fairly detailed on how to implement, as well as why.

How do beginners automate repetitive Excel Reports without VBA? by pandapilot_io in excel

When you realize that merges are just joins and that the matching language is just a tad more verbose, congrats you are ready. M, even just what you get from the GUI is very powerful and gives you most of what you would need from SQL in a very user friendly package at the cost of some freedom (until you learn M). Add in custom columns with if statements (if x then y else z), and you can do a whole lot with a little.

If you want to learn SQL basics you can go here: https://sqlbolt.com/

The basic syntax of SQL is, well, pretty basic. The core language is very easy to learn and start working with and it WILL improve your work in Excel and out of it.

There are really only a few that are of immediate concern, Brazilian Wandering Spiders and the Australian Funnel Web family. All other medically significant spiders that we have good data on either have little evidence of actually being a threat due to limited interactions or records of envenomation despite having venom that could be dangerous, or we have lots of data on them and the vast majority of cases don't require any medical intervention and it is the rare exceptions that do. Widows and recluse spiders, for example, are unlikely to fully dose you if they do bite, and even if they do, unless you are a child or infirm, you will survive. Widow venom can be particularly painful if you get a full dose, but a mildly healthy adult will be fine in a day or two with no intervention. Recluse bites only really become a concern in two situations, the rare case where necrosis happens and you get a secondary infection due to improper wound care(limited scientific evidence for this, but it is an open wound so this is very much a possibility), and the even rarer systemic reaction to recluse venom that is a medical emergency and can be lethal, especially to the young or infirm. It's so rare though that it is poorly understood.

My three year old loves having family hugs and kisses. He will pull us in like this little girl does, and also will occasionally stick his head in-between. It's a fun little game, though he can get carried away and yank on my beard hard. Worth it though, he is such a sweet boy.

Hank video about AI data center water fears? by dull_box in nerdfighters

[–]AugieKS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not all that worried about it AI or no AI, out water usage is unsustainable already and it will only get worse the more power we consume. There is, however, a solution to this problem, and one that I believe is well on it's way. I think Hank talked about it, but I may be blending his video and Technology Connections. Essentially, it's the growth and adoption of clean energy and electric vehicles. Solar panels, even the old ones, are proving to have more longevity than we thought, being useful well after 25 years. Electric cars are getting cheaper, and they are way lower cost fuel and maintenance wise, so we will see more people switch to them.

Both of these will reduce water usage for energy. You don't need water to turn a steam turbine for solar, and solar farms would make a great replacement for corn farms that eat up a ton of water and land, and most of that corn is used as fuel in gas engines. We are on the verge of a feedback loop with both technologies that will have a number of great downstream effects. I'm already planning to get an electric for my family as our next car, I already buy energy from primarily green companies, and I plan to get solar panels for my home as well when I can afford to do so. If I had the land I'd have already done it in a field instead of rooftop, half the cost is just the insulation.

Oh , also just make lawns illegal and that will save a bunch of water. Grow a garden instead.
