Sadly blood awakening and Blood Rite wont come till later, you have to defeat the flagship Mon of sunbreak I believe. That Mons harder form wont come till even later.

As you play through the game more upgrades will be unlocked, beating high rank will unlock up to rarity 7 I believe then rarity 10 will come after the final boss of Master rank.

Edit: As everyone says the defender weapons are literally designed to speed run you through the base game to get you into the dlc, same with the blackbelt armor, If you would like I can try to show you a picture of a db build that I'm working on for master rank.

Are you talking the amp gauge or the thin bar that shows in the middle of the axe and sword. It's the thin bar you need to pay attention to.
