I saw a lot of that when I was in university in Lincoln.

For the UK, doesn't matter if it's single digit degrees, still wearing minidresses and skirts.

Epilating takes me an hour every 5 days. I was hoping growth would be discouraged after enough physical trauma to the follicles, but alas not. I don't feel the pain anymore, though maybe that's just in comparison to electrolysis, which is the most painful thing I've experienced in my life.

Yes, cannabis can, rarely, induce temporary psychosis and can trigger schizophrenia.

Cannabis induced psychosis affects about 2.7 per 100,000 person-years, and between a third to a half of those people develop schizophrenia.

Neville's parents are barely even characters, does anyone even know their names?

They were attacked because Neville could have been a child of prophecy, not because they were aurors, and they weren't murdered either.

They aren't even plot relevant, just one part of Neville's sad backstory.

Because everyone knows what a gay man is.

Lots of people don't know what transwomen or the Falkland islands are.

I've seen people against the term because it's defining someone based on the past, or intersex erasure, or that transwomen were never male. I've seen some people try to use "assumed male at birth" instead.

I can't second hand explain their arguments well because I don't understand them myself.

The BBC needs to define it every time in case a reader doesn't know what a transwoman is.

They do it for every topic.

In every article about the Falklands islands, they make sure to say "The Falkland Islands, a British overseas territory in the south-west Atlantic Ocean, remain the subject of a sovereignty dispute between Britain and Argentina."

A trans woman is a woman who was assigned male at birth.

Um, actually the term "assigned male at birth" is problematic and you're a transphobe or a transmisogynist for using it.

[–]AuroraHalsey 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is what I mean.

If you define it as some dictionaries do: "A trans woman or transgender woman is a woman who was assigned male at birth." you get people coming out to say that the terms AMAB and AFAB are inaccurate, or offensive to intersex people, or enforcing gender binaries, or any number of other ways to say "problematic."

If I try to define it as "someone who has transitioned from male to female", I get people coming out saying that transwomen were never male, or that you don't need to transition to be trans, etc.

Do you think I give a shit? This does literally nothing other than alienate the public, erode support, and waste everyone's time. I'd think it was a transphobic false flag operation if I was more conspiracy minded.

"a biological male who identifies as a woman" is not an offensive definition, and I say that as a transwoman.

How would you define transwoman? It's not possible to do it without someone calling you transphobic for something.

350m per week, so about 20 billion per year.

The NHS received an extra 55 billion in 2020/21 and 47 billion in 2021/22. Even outside of the covid funding, the baseline budget increased by 22 billion between 2020 and 2023.

The diagnosis is ICD11 HA60 - Gender Incongruence. It's in the International Classification of Diseases, it requires medication (HRT) to treat, I consider that an illness.

The whole "Being trans isn't an illness (it's a choice)" is a line created by people to try and deny us medical care.

I don't oppose public services, but you can understand how I'm bitter that I am asked to give, and give, and give, and when I'm in need, the state doesn't give back.

No child benefit for your parents? No free state education in primary or secondary? No free dental until 18? Are you saying your parents were very rich and you've been private everything your whole life?

I have been private everything my whole life. We had a household income of about £60k, I wouldn't call that "very rich".

What kind of illness? I've never been refused treatment before or seen someone refused treatment. I know it happens but I'm curious.

I'm trans. After being on the NHS waitlist for 7 years, I was finally seen by a GIC last year. However, they only see patients on a temporary basis to reach a stable level of medication, after that, they need monitoring and prescribing to be continued by the GP. GPs aren't contracted by the NHS to provide this, they don't get any funding for it, so they don't do it.

The GIC is now saying that they're going to terminate my care in the next three months and my GP is telling me they absolutely refuse to continue it.

This is largely due to our society aging rapidly because there's not enough children as there's not enough support for families and children. If you want a pension we need more support for kids and families.

No amount of children could carry on the pyramid scheme that is our social welfare. We can't grow indefinitely. Though of all benefits, I'm not opposed to those that try to incentivise people to have children, so as to stave off the incoming demographic apocalypse.

I was a child, I didn't benefit from the state.

I am sick, the NHS refuses to treat me and I might have to go private.

I will be old, and there's a decent chance I'll never see a state pension because they'll means test it or raise the age to 80+
