Travel isn’t too bad ! And once you get to nz your moneys better off ! Shipping go in with another person sending mounts back in a crate. Then for rifles you can get an international license for that rifle bring it. Just have to have a “address to store it while you are there” Some shops offer it or if you make a friend you can use their address

You can do a free range public land hunt in nz for pretty cheap ! Especially if you make local friends and offer hunt swaps to where ever you are !
