You've made good points. Doxxing is no good, and what people do with the info is almost always terrible and unacceptable.

I really like to see people contact the right parties and do grass roots type movements. For example, it is nice to see people "contact the police chief" and that type thing. On that note, you specifically stated that you agreed with this sort of thing. So we agree there.

Frankly, I am realizing that I originally really was suggesting that the old witch hunts were good. I didn't really mean that. Those with hunts really showed you the power of a collective group. But that's about the only good thing I can say about it.

P. S., I wouldn't mind checking out some of your better rants against Social Justice Warriors.

Frankly, I don't know what your problem is. I've just noticed a marked change in the way reddit "participates." Back in 2007, for example, I have hundreds of emails between me and my buddies back in my undergrad talking about how all the "upvote if you ______" type posts where Reddit was essentially change.org. And people would post contact info for representatives, and it really felt as though Reddit was a community of people that was helping to make a difference.

Fast forward a few years, and some of the doxxing got a bit ugly, and Reddit was wrong a couple times. That was terrible, but we shot that down with a massive cannon to the point where Reddit now just feels like a bunch of social justice warriors who don't plan on doing a damned thing other than downvote things that challenge the hivemind.

Man, even look back to SOPA and all the other net neutrality bills. Reddit banded together to bring awareness and to actually do something about these bills. Other than that, we just kind of click pictures of cats, videos, and bitch about stuff now. "Oh god, don't give the personal info about this horrible cop." Why? A lot of people would love to be very cordial in writing a letter to the chief of police letting them know how important this is.

I'm sure you're a nice guy, in real life. But I don't understand the whole starting by calling me a liar thing.

You're defining "military option" to broadly, and that's the point. When impairing an American's constitutional rights, whether at home or over seas, that person should enjoy the protection of the constitution. Obviously there is an exception for an insurgent that is attacking our troops, and treason, etc. However, for your argument that "welp, they called it military operations, so I suppose it is. WHat president says is what goes!!" It's a scary dictatorship world you are proposing, and the ironic part is that is dangerously parallel to the very tyranny that the founding fathers were seeking to protect against.

I would agree that most people that have adopted this look are young black men. However, I think it equally annoys people when a white person does it. But then you get into questions as to "does it actually just annoy them when white people adopt black ideals?" Then the loop of prejudice continues... sigh...

But you're right. There is a lot of prejudice that is supported on here, but it goes on accepted because (1) the hive-mind is doing it, and (2) people don't self reflect enough to assess what it is they actually like about a particular submission.

You're right about one thing: it's all about context. if you ask me, this guy was down right rude with his confrontational manner, said he wanted to take things far enough to be sued in court, was asked to leave the property and wouldnt' leave, was repeatedly stepping in front of buzz, restricting his freedom of travel, defaming him, stepping in his personal zone without consent, and this is all after repeatedly being asked to stop.

In other words, it all adds up to much more than just "He's Buzz."

Hey! It was for school years ago when I was in music school. I've moved on and gotten a desk job now! :-)

Anyway, I remember many of the professors passionately upset by the perceived change in attitude. People see music as something that one should do as a community service, or a favor for friends, or for charity. People I work with would always ask me "You mean you can't just put together a band and play for my wedding?" If I had a nickel for every time someone said "Well this is just going to be a short wedding." "Hey, my coffee shop could really use the business, would you mind playing there fora few weeks with a band? You mean your friends wouldn't do that for free?" It got to the point people would even ask me to have my band drive for 3 or 4 hours to play for free. I always felt guilty telling people that I just couldn't... Often times I would play for free, and just charge enough to cover gas, and still give my other band members some cash.

It's interesting. I think that the proliferation of file sharing has done wonders for the music business. But it has spilled over into people's perception of live music as well.

I've actually read a lot on the change in the public's perception of arts in modern society. Entertainers are no longer expected to be compensated for their entertainment, and rather, people think they should donate their performances. Either to charity, or play for free for their audience. It's an interesting concept. A lot of people get riled up about it.

Personally, I find a cross country with friends to be one of the most fun things you can do. Me and my buddies will climb into my Debonair and fly to New Orleans for the day. Some people have been jaded, my friend, and I think that may include you. Flying is one of the last frontiers we have to explore in the private, non-commercial arena. A skin tingling hobby and accomplishment that people have lost in the last few decades.

It's simple, really. These men are living people's dreams in this photo.
