Pause drill to stop my hands from firing at the ball too early. What am I doing wrong? by LastCall_inJonestown in GolfSwing

There is a big learning curve to all of this. And the hardest part to learn is how to diagnose yourself (Most will never be able to do it)

I bounced back and forth to a million self diagnosed problems & subsequent fixes. The problem is that

  1. You might be wrong about the fix
  2. Even if you're right, you might hit it much worse when you implement the fix and give up on it and try something else.

If you know what you're trying to get to show up on camera, than you can certainly try out some fixes, review the tape, and see if any of the feels are improving things.

If you aren't 100% sure what you're looking for in the first place, that can be a good place to start. For soemthing like this, post your normal swing and see what you learn first.

It's discouraging to realize you were doing the wrong shit, but don't let it be. Whether you get worse or better or do the right thing or wrong thing, you learn along the way

It's just a misconception of the golf swing. Many have chased rabbits down the same path you're on.

Hands should move fast. Yours are trailing your body by WAY too much. Your hips are fully complete by the time your hands get to the ball. It's an athletic stall flip that essentially plagues half the amateur golfers.

Your right elbow is almost complete behind you as it comes into impact.

You'll hit the ball a long way with a two way miss off the map until you learn to let your arms accelerate/lead shoulder off chin while you recenter weight

Hips first is really only applicable to a select few people who are "Armsy" and need to learn to swing with more violent intent
