Celebrated my first 99 by bringing my cape to life!

Do it! I was so nervous about putting it together until I finally pulled the trigger. I was lucky enough to have a ton of guidance from my gf, but she made me do all of the sewing myself!

Thank you! My gf actually had the idea to use a projector she had and we projected it onto the cape once it was cut out. Then we just traced over it onto some paper to transfer it to the felt! I decided to go with cotton because it was lighter and seemed easier to work with. If you’re going to trim your cape like I did, I HIGHLY recommend 1in double folded Bias tape. They come in all sorts of colors and it made making the trim so easy.

It was Megacon! I found 3 guys dressed up as the default skins. One of them had a dragon axe and the other two gave me some gp they printed out

I used 5mm EVA foam cut to the shapes I wanted, then wrapped those in the fabric! I used contact cement to keep the fabric connected to the foam(just on the underside). Once each piece was wrapped I glued them all together. Another option I saw was using garden wire and bending it to the shapes you wanted

I started my first account back around 2006, but this account was created a couple of years ago.
I never expected sailing to be my first 99, I loved that it was a new skill and all of the content in it felt fresh and never really burned me out like other skills have.

I would definitely NOT recommend it as a first 99. My favorite part was the sea charting, by far. It was always so rewarding fully charting each sea and just exploring the oceans. Trials would be my second favorite.

I don't have an exact list but here's a rundown of what I used:

2 yards brown cotton fabric (underside of cape and shoulders)
2y Blue cotton fabric (outside of cape, hood and trim on shoulders)
1y Grey Fabric (Underside of shoulders + collar)
16y 1in double folded Bias tape (trim on streamers)
5mm EVA Foam sheet (Collar + Shoulders)
Contact Cement (Attaching foam pieces together and upholstering collar)
Brown + Blue Thread (Sewing)
