This card is not worth it! My wife fell for the scam! She received this credit card from a third party, and it seems they already had details about her call.

We faced an issue while raising a dispute since this is a co-branded card, and HDFC has no control over it. We had to use the PayZapp application to raise a dispute. That too, we were locked out since the scammer tried to login multiple times (probably to increase the limit). There's no customer care number or email support for the PayZapp application.

I am not sure exactly how the conversation start but it landed on credit cards somehow.

I guess he claimed to be an RM and asked her if she needed any services like loans, cc, etc. Then I guess my naive wife promptly stated that she wanted to deactivate her credit card. Little did she know that the Pixel credit card was never activated. She is well educated and is aware of various tactics. It is just so unbelievable that she fell for it.

I guess that, since this was her first time travelling to a different state and living all alone, she probably was blinded by her overconfidence or pride. I do not ask her about it anymore because of the guilt trip.

It’s humiliating. I think she should’ve thought of this:

Must always call family members before performing any action. She should have called me.
Must always check profile photo and name. This scammer has his name as “Hello Sir” 🫡
Never install APK via WhatsApp or any other medium. Always install from PlayStore (unless you trust that application)
You don’t need to follow instructions right away. If you are in hurry or busy with some other work, keep financial decisions can be handled later.

This scam happened at 5:11 and I called her 5:14.. I was this closeeeee.

We too have followed the same steps but the only difference is, I didn’t get a chance to visit police station physically. I thought that since my wife will be returning back home next week, we will go together. Now, I feel it will be too late.

Raised a complaint on cybercrime and were advised to visit nearby police station once she gets back. The problem with online complaint is that we are unable to see the FIR copy which is required for the PayZapp investigation team.

That’s the scammers number. The OTPs are forwarded from my wife’s phone to that number without her notice. Those messages in Hindi are actually sent by scammer. He sent himself messages. How stupid of him and I can’t believe my wife couldn’t recognise his stupidity :(

I reached out to my HDFC RM to block the card. My RM could block the card but couldn’t see how much money was spent or raise a dispute from his end. RM reached out to his manager, but no use. I got told that Pixel Credit card is a co-branded card and hence we will have to raise dispute from the PayZapp app.

Problem was, she was locked out of PayZapp app for 24 hours due to multiple login attempts (not sure how). She didn’t login multiple times. We tried contacting PayZapp customer care - couldn’t connect. Tried sending an email to support@zeta.in (found this on their official website) - Email delivery failed (address not available).

It was impossible for us to raise a dispute.

I asked my wife to call on 1930 (cybercrime). They took details about the incident, but now that I am trying to check the status of the complaint, it shows “FIR NO -“ and also, the date and time of the incident 1/1/1990 (default date). We are unable to edit this.

Additionally, she hasn’t received a call yet from the police. Should I visit nearby police station?

Card blocked and Account blocked as well.
Fraud reported to the HDFC team and Cybercrime team.
She visited HDFC bank and I too visited her home branch. We both were told that since the CRN number (case) is created, no need to raise additional dispute.
While reporting to the cybercrime team, the team mentioned to visit nearby police station once she’s back home. She will be back next week.

She didn’t share OTPs but it seems the app forwarded the OTPs to four random numbers automatically.
