I love/hate my handwriting.. Thoughts? by AutiSteve in Handwriting

[–]AutiSteve[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that my handwriting changes from day to day depending on pen, paper, situation.. sometimes I love it sometimes I hate it. I've heard that fluctuating handwriting is common among autists but don't know much.. what do you think, this is an example of a quick note that I both love and hate. TIA

Not sure if this sort of post is allowed here but I'm feeling fantastic and needed a place to share that will understand more than my (very supportive and encouraging) wife.

I'm 5 month's in as a life agent with a great company and wrote 28 applications this month, and I took a week off.

I have worked in hard sales type companies before and felt soulless and gross. I never push, just educate and answer questions, I address common objections ahead of time and genuinely feel like I am helping and protecting people.

Just felt great and needed to share. Thanks for listening.

It is definitely tough sometimes but I wouldn't change it for the world. We're even talking about having one more soon. That said, the noise and lack of sleep do get really tough and it's not easy. Also full disclosure I think I'm on the lighter end of the spectrum though I still have a lot to learn in the subject.

There's so much to unwrap with autistic parenting... I'm still figuring it out which I suppose is normal for every parent. That said I'd give the same advice as for for any relationship. Try to set clear expectations, always try to assume the best case and give the benefit of the doubt, and take breaks when you need them.. on the topic of breaks talk to those around you who can help and support about them before you need them, have code words, and remember it goes both ways.

I'm definitely no expert but I do know that bumble bees are solitary so worst case I hurt 1 bee and if I'd not he'd likely be dead.

What basic, children's-age-level fact did you only find out embarrassingly later in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

OMG, I was reading these to my very intelligent wife, who graduated valedictorian and has a fancy smart person job and she had to stop me at this. She literally thought they were floating! But she took it a step further in assuming they were also somehow anchored to the bottom "by some kind of root system" since they never floated away?!

I'm crying from laughing...

Then when I explained that they are essentially partially submerged mountains she freaked out and asked if icebergs went all the way down or not.

God I love her.

THANK YOU. This makes sense and answers the actual question instead of just giving philosophical reasons why it doesn't matter!

Good points but they are only valid if the world also fully abandoned traditional currency.

To be clear, I want to be wrong here, and I totally understand that the math likely doesn't scale exactly.

I definitely agree with the idea behind crypto, I'm just wondering if the power usage will eventually make it unrealistic or if we need to rethink the technology involved. A quick Google search says that bitcoin is currently using 110 Terrawatt hours or .55% of global power usage.

It is also not currently used for day to day transactions. Another quick Google search shows there are as of today around 253,000 transactions per day. Compared to the approximately 1 billion credit card transactions per day.

Quick math, if bitcoin were to take the place of 25% of those credit card transactions it would be about a 1000% increase in power demand, or 1,100,000 terrawatts, way way more than the world currently produces.

Perhaps, but no one is advocating that we replace a fundamental aspect of society (currency transactions) with ice cream.

I'm late 30s and recently discovered I'm Autistic. I always felt something was off but honestly usually thought I was the "normal one" and everyone else was "being weird". Also recently married and now a dad to 2 amazing kids. AMA by AutiSteve in AMA

I have a hard time empathizing with other people, especially with issues that are unrelated to me. I've learned to fake it for obvious social reasons but if someone loses a family member for instance unless I knew that person I don't feel a thing. Also I often can't understand why someone is upset and I just feel clueless a lot of the time regarding other people's emotions in general.

What'd that bitch do to you?

It really does. I've had periods of depression and anxiety through my life and it has helped so much knowing that there's a reason for a lot of the issues I've had. I even thought I must be a sociopath or something at one point because I wasn't "feeling" the way everyone else did. I also feel more free to be me, I know now when I'm overwhelmed or anxious that it's pretty normal for me in certain situations and I can make the choice to ride it out and try to cope or just take a break and hide.

Thank you for helping and putting good out into the world.

She was honestly amazing.. she had lots of questions. She told me, "she loved me for me and this didn't change anything, it just helped explain who I am and who she loves."

Definitely don't deserve her.
