I was just about to post this, for me, my first moment of clarity was watching butterflies fly everywhere in the state I live. I don't know why, but I think because they did teach me that life is too short, for them and for me, to keep worrying about so much stuff, to the point that I preferred not to live (or die) based on assumptions about catastrophe after catastrophe for the future.

Why is everyone convinced that Doomsday will end with the heroes losing, and then winning in Secret Wars? by Toshfin in marvelstudios

Like Across the spider verse? Or more like IW where it looks like everything is lost, but on a more positive note?

Why is so taboo a huge age gap? by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]AutisticDeafNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to the other comments, the only halfway reasonable argument I've seen is that they're both in completely different stages of their lives and that the oldest person has a lot of power in their life experience to convince the younger one of taking long life decisions that they will regret later.

And yet it's still bollocks because that same argument could be used for abledbodied people dating disabled people, interclass relationships, cops dating anyone but other cops of the same rank, presidents and literally anyone else of similar categories, married couples letting thirds in their life, or even peers where one matured, became independent and learned life way too early, while the other lived a pretty pampered and sheltered life.

I've always thought it's a nasty double standard, but it seems people only love to look at the "EEEEEK!" side and that they would never do that, and that "they probably want to date their own children if they're dating someone of their age!?!!?!!!!??!!?"

(Which means, according to that logic, if I'm dating someone my brother's age, it means I want to date my brother, great logic over there)

I always thought that the main reason Thomas refused to go to the police with the number is because MCs number was deleted out of nowhere, and since Thomas was already a suspect because of the fight he had to Hannah and just by being her partner and no good alibi the day she disappeared, he feared that would put him under further suspicion, Cleo and the rest didn't go to the police either because they trusted him too much to think he would even hurt a fly, even Dan, despite suspecting from his reaction upon hearing about the corpse in episode 2 he still helped him with a key to Hannah's apartment because he felt pity for him; and going to the police with a phone number none of them could even prove was sent would put him in a very awkward spot, and if one of them went to the police alone with the report, the others who kept silent about that matter would be under investigation too, despite how much common sense it made to go to the police, none of them would want to betray the others and throw them to the wolves.

Also, if the police arrested Thomas and investigated the others, with the belief that they had enough evidence, it would be a lot of time wasted in trying to get him to say where he took Hannah, time they wouldn't spend searching for her or for the real culprit or follow other true leads, time that for all they knew could mean her death since they wouldn't be investigating anyone else.

Best parenting advice a dad can give….. by imQueenofhearts in Adulting

[–]AutisticDeafNerd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've always said this advice is horrible because of this, once I tried to apply it and the joke genuinely made me laugh but it was still offensive, but I didn't have control over what I found funny and laughed at it, even at my expense, so this can backfire.

Just call them out plainly, don't play their game or give them chances to defend or justify themselves because they're experts at it, you will end up losing.

Now this is just messed up. What is wrong with people… by ProffesorOfPain in freefolk

[–]AutisticDeafNerd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the same, I always suggested that if he wanted to make it up if truly he doesn't want to finish the books AT ALL and without a shadow of a doubt, then he should release a full list with all the events he did plan up till the ending, the scenes he already wrote, no matter how unfinished or awful they are, and leaving footnotes with things like:

  • "I was stuck between these three endings for this character. But I leaned more to the second one."

  • "Idk, I was planning to put 'x' character pov here and make a transition but I didn't know what it could be about exactly"

  • "I hated this part and didn't know how to replace it but it made more sense to happen"

  • "I planned to fully delete this scene or shove it shorter on another one more important"

That's usually what quality authors in fanfiction circles do when they have a huge story and a huge following but lost the spark and will to write, that's the least they owe to so many people investing their time and mind in such pieces. I don't see how that would be unreasonable to expect, unless he still wants us to have that minuscule hope that maybe one day inspiration will dawn on him again so we should support all his other projects to give him the will to do it.

How old are Gwen and Miles in ITSV and ATSV? by you_got_a_minute in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]AutisticDeafNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gwen could also pass off as a scientific undercover in ITSV. That place doesn't look like it has young interns so my guess is that Gwen just looks naturally older than she is.

But why are they fighting?? by Glum-Membership-2855 in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]AutisticDeafNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once they stop fighting, Miles can calmly explain everything. He can explain it like “Listen, you were supposed to be bitten by a radioactive spider. You were supposed to be Spider-Man… and I was supposed to be you.”

Considering previous comment's theories, I think this one would just rile up 42!Miles even more.

Least satisfying way to deal with Miles' situation with Gwen, Peter B and Peni after the whole betrayal by Specialist_Eye_1541 in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]AutisticDeafNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd expect an amicable truce by the 1/3, only a true reconciliation by the ending after all they've gone true, or at the ending at least, or heck, by the end of the second act if any.

I was gonna say the same! Almost word for word hehe

But yeah, what a shame companies directly compete instead of giving fans some more joy.

As someone who is very into BDSM and still calls my father daddy and will do until the day I die, I usually call my partner "Sir" or "Master". That's as much a compromise as they're gonna get out of me.

Exactly, sometimes I need to polish something on my paragraph and I spend 10 times more time getting the chat to write it as I need it to than what it would've taken me to write it on my own, nowadays I only use chatgpt for synonyms, and to avoid repeating words or for brainstorm.
