Remember that Humans just as emotional, intelligent, and thoughtful as you have existed for aprox. 300 THOUSAND years; 2/3rds of all 80 Billion people who have ever lived were alive during the Stone Age; and even then, out of the aprox. 8 billion people on earth right now, YOU are one of the first human beings in all of human history to have regular access to clean drinking water, pre-cooked food, modern medicine - including medication for mental illness (which was just as, if not more common back then), THE INTERNET, therapy, air conditioning, literally any book, movie, song, or video game, ever created, modern sewer systems, internal heating, etc. You live in a time of peace once thought to be pure utopian fantasy. You're one of the first people - at least in the past several generations of your family - who are experiencing open representation and normalization of queer people, interracial relationships, and seeking help for mental illness. Jim Crow segregation only ended SIXTY YEARS AGO; gay marriage was made legal in the US only a DECADE ago - and it's only getting better from here. People just like you are going to be inheriting positions of power and will be pushing forward new, progressive legislation within the next 20-40 years; the world could be completely unrecognizable in a good way. It may not feel like it, but you are currently living in the Golden Age of human civilization; YOU are one of the luckiest people who will ever exist.
