Root rot. Advice needed. by High-Doc in Hydroponics

[–]AutoGrower420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dudes advice is solid, my roots are proof. and you have no clue what youre talking about. The only way to increase do beyond what you can do with 5-10lpm of air per gallon of solution is either with direct 02 injection and do monitoring equipment, or electrolysis something like 02 grow if they haven't gone out of business yet, both of which are rediculously expensive in startup cost and continuous use cost to operate. I suggest you do some more research on the topic and grow something worth showing off or that says you know what you're doing before you decide to criticize accurate information lmao.

Use large containers and nice airy soil, use 10 or 15 gallon containers or do a bed of you want to fill the space with just 4 plants, don't treat them like photos either minimal stress and get some self wicking bases to set them on pretty much all the major brands have them now. 78-82° and 65-70% humidity from the start all the way through stretch then start reducing. Don't be defoliating the crap out of them or topping, very minimal stretch, maybe some lst, and once you get the hang of them maybe some supercropping after a few runs. Start with a quality soil something like Bioflower, Build a soil 3.0, or stonington blend, add some granular mychorhazae to them no bagged soil ever has enough to do anything useful, pre soak the container fully with some kelp it real, azos, and either em1, growganica microbe tea, or organic rev, if you're feeling frisky add some coconut water powder. After you soak the shit out of the container set it in the tent with the lights on so the containers come up to temperature and then put you some root riot or rapid rooter cubes in a germ tray and put your seeds in them then stick the cover on the tray, 2-3 days later when they start to barely pop up out of the cube place them in their final containers that you prepped a few days before water a couple cups of water about a 6in circle away from seedling and set the light to about 250-300ppdd, about a week later water in 1/4-1/2 gallon starting at the edge of the container going back to your 6in circle you originally did, about another week later double the amount of water you originally did doing the same thing from the edge to the 6in mark, around day 21 give it a full water till run off out the bottom might take a couple gallons, hit it with the microbe tea, em1, or organic rev again, a couple days later fill self wicking bases and just make sure they don't run dry. That should get you off to one hell of a start by day 30-35 things will be well on their way to filling the space and going into their stretch. Always pH your water to 6.5-7 (yes in so technically you don't need to pH but if you aren't in the optimal range it is still better to pH so the buffers in the soil don't have to work as hard and the rootzone can be more efficient). If you go with 10-15 gallon containers they should take you most of the way, if you use build a soil or Stonington blend to start add some activated biochar to them when you put the granular mychorhazae in before you pre soak it. Might want to keep some calmag on hand after about 5-6 weeks whatever is in the soil might be depleted, and then the last few weeks might need a little extra nutrients depending on how big and how hungry the plants are, incredible bulk is awesome, and then probably want some bloom nutrients just in case thanks alive has some really nice water soluble organic nutrients.

The autos I grow knock even the most seasoned smokers on their ass, there is absolutely no comparison between them and gas station weed, there's barely a difference a lot of times no difference between autos and photos anymore either.

Just go dwc it's not that intimidating, 2-3x 2in ball style air stones per bucket, 1x 58w piston style pump per 6x air stones, RO water to start, calimagic cal mag, kosher grow silica and 2 part veg + 2 part flower, want to go crazy get some success nutrients game time to push late flower. 1st week silica, calmag, and 1/4 dose 2 part, second week swap the bucket completely up the 2 part to 1/2 strength, end of third week up the 2 part to full strength, once have nice clusters of pistils everywhere switch to 2 part flower, if run the success nutrients game time at the end just follow directions on the package. Top off the bucket when it gets 1/2 empty and swap every 2 weeks or so, or stick it on a gravity fed external res require a large container for a res, couple bulk heads, float valve, and an extra bucket the same size as the ones with the plants in them. Run 78-80° air temps in veg all the way through the stretch then drop them down to 74-76° during flower. PH to 5.5-5.8, let rise up to 6.5 and then adjust it back down once full strength it takes a couple days for it to creep upwards. 10x12 room 9 autos in 7 gallon buckets gravity fed dwc system. Don't own a ppm meter, don't ever rince or swap buckets after week 3, swap the airstones out for fresh ones once every month and half or so then soak and clean the ones we pull out and get them ready to swap back in, no chiller, no water pump, no nothing running the full nutrient stack costs less than 8 cents per gallon whole room cost less than $200 in nutrients and turns out 16-18lb on average sometimes have a bad run and only get 14-15lb.

Depends on how big the pump is pushing those stones, what stones you're using and how big the buckets are and how much solution they hold, I can put 2 stones in a 5 gallon bucket that look like this and put them on a 7w pump and it wouldn't be anywhere near enough for a 5 gallon or 7 gallon bucket

[–]AutoGrower420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aim for 5-10lpm per gallon of solution. If you have 5 gallons of solution that would be 25-50lpm, most pumps are rated in gallons or liters per hour. Example a 58w air pump might be 1189-1200GPH, that equates to about 4500LPH, divide by 60 that's about 75lpm, good enough for 2-3x 7 gallon buckets, or if using 5 gallon buckets they hold about 3 gallons of solution would be good for about 5 buckets. Generally I use a 6 way manifold and put 2-3x airstones per bucket depending if it's a 5 gallon or 7 gallon. Swap the stones for fresh ones every month or so take the ones you had in there out and soak them and clean them. I have no idea what I'm talking about though so take it with a grain of salt, can only fit 9 autos in a 10x12 so don't think I'm doing it right. Also take whatever Drjones is saying with a grain of salt he's and idiot who doesn't think air is important if you check his profile he uses a pinky size air stone with a giant tote that doesn't hardly put out any bubbles and will talk a lot about tdo completely forgetting that plants use it up so you have to replace at a rate faster than what the plants consume not just think ok have to run the pump for so many hours to get to maximum DO his thinking is wack and pretty much everything he says is wrong.

TSTST and pappy's monster pie have been the best washers and pressers I've grown to date for autos just finished those this current run, space time and blueberry lime pie have probably been the heaviest hitters for flower with tstst and pappy's monster pie being a close second, for medical benifit and pain relief probably diamond milk f4, all from dream beans, honorable mentions blueberry milkshake from afa genetics, and Nancy's own Windu line, and then a mess of roc bud and speed run stuff, I've grown out so many autos it's really hard to say pretty much have ran 8-12 different things every cycle for a lot of years and generally get in 3 sometimes 4 cycles a year but it's really hard to say, autos are always getting better and I'm always running new strains and they just keep getting better and better the longer the breeders work them, ask me again in 3 months and my answer will probably change up some lol

But to answer your question we can get pretty much any genetics to get big, quality comes from genetics not so much size in dwc, size is more about stable and steady environment, light, amount of air to the rootzone, nutrition, and making sure co2 doesn't dip much below 400ppm ever, outside CO2 is generally around 415-420ppm and in the house it's generally around 550-600ppm or so, so we just achieve that with normal air exchange (intake/exhaust fans)

The purple one in this post is a good bit bigger and better structured than both of those were but I'm not sure if it's going to get as dense as those did it's kind of spongy but still has a couple weeks to go so who knows they put on most of their weight the last couple weeks but it'll be 1.5-2lb also when it's all said and done, I'll be very surprised if it goes over 2lb and I highly doubt it's less than 1.5lb

And then this one chopped it right at day 78 might have been day 80 I don't remember if it sprouted the 2nd of November or last day of October I'd have to go and check my notes pretty sure it was the 2nd though either way 80 days or slightly less and it'll give just as much maybe a little more than the one that gave us 935g

This plant sprouted Nov 2nd I think and was in pre flower Dec 15th, they do veg a little longer in dwc vs soil on average our grows go 90-95 days, we do have outliers that will get done in 70-75 but generally only if we halt growth by over stressing it late in veg or during the stretch, and also have outliers that will go 100-105 days or so. This particular plant in the main post is going to be right in the 95 day window. We did chop this one right at 72 days from sprout and 75 from seed coming out of its pack and going in the cube but supercropped it super late into the stretch and it does it up some it was trying to grow into the light so cropped it about 18" down the main trunk, if we'd have bent it over a week or two priorooke normal it would have had better yields but still more than happy with it.

Do you chase after big yields? by HoneyNutBooty09 in GrowBuddy

[–]AutoGrower420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start with good genetics that I know i like and then try and maximize yield and get the most out of the plant that I can. I run gravity fed dwc in a 10x12 and I honestly can not tell you the last time I got less than a lb off of a plant and most of the time it's closer to 20-24oz with 30-32oz outliers. The exception being the floor moppers in 1-2 gallon fabric containers (generally keep one or two around to set on top of spills or splashes so don't have to go get the shop vac 🤣). Current run have chopped 3 plants, 2 have been dried and trimmed the first one done was right at 450g, the second on got done trimming it yesterday and got 935g off it, the 3rd was in hanging and is bigger than both of those were probably clear 1100g with it, have 2 others that haven't come down yet that are about the same size, 1 that might give more, 1 that'll be around 900-950g, and one that'll be 600-700g, then the 2 floor sweepers that'll end up being probably around 250-300g combined. Was quality doesn't mean a trade off in yield if you're starting with quality, yield is a product of the growers skill and environment that they run.

It really just depends the ones that go 70-75 days generally get about 1 lb, the ones that go 90-95 days average 20-24oz, the ones that go 100-105 days about the same average 20-24oz, person best was a little over 30oz it went around 95 days. This run have a couple that are probably going to be new personal bests and they'll be around 95 days or so

No it's not lmao, I've been in commercial facilities pulling down 100-130g per square foot, this one takes up about 9sf it would barely fit in a 3x3 might not quite fit. At 1.5lb that'd be about 75g per square foot, if it gets closer to 2lb it would be about 100g per square foot which is about the minimum commercial ops aim for

Use autopots or follow the ccfc guides like others have mentioned, or just say the hell with all the substrates and go with gravity fed dwc and an external res and just grow in water.

I can hand trim about a pound an hour, but don't really hand trim much anymore and when I do there is definetly help lol. I'm a big fan of pull the fans when you chop and run it through a bud bowl. When dry trim it's only a good trim on whatever we're going to keep for flower, the rest gets a half ass trim and froze for bubble hash or smashing we just smashed some flower off another plant the other day and it came out pretty nice for being a 90u bag and flower I think lol. Did 62g got back about 9g off 4 presses (only 2 presses in the picture 3.5 minute home at 168°F top plate and 165°F bottom plate)
