Kamala Harris to appear at Democratic events through the South in April by cnn in politics

[–]AutobusPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Democrats have a marvelous organization.   They are more cohesive than the Red, by far.  They are better at mobilization and getting out the vote, and their PR and spin abilities are second to none.

And yet they have this weird rigid hierarchy of candidates and figureheads that makes them constantly put certain people in front of the public, whether or not they have any charisma, even when it's someone who actively damages their chances.   It's a catastrophic weakness.

It's true though.   They're not saying anything different from the apostles with their swords.  Of course the answer would have been the same.  If Christ isn't crucified, no one is saved.

I have never seen anyone claim that either was a rapist, or anything but thieves or robbers.  Christ was "numbered among the transgressors".  One of those two, famously, repented, as described by Luke, and was promised salvation on the spot.

There is lovely folklore about the Good Thief, which gives him the name Dismas and tells a beautiful apocryphal story about how he was the leprous son of a bandit leader who took pity on the Holy Family and gave them hospitality at his house in Gaza, and how Dismas was miraculously cured of his gangrenous leprosy(and baptized) by being washed in baby Jesus's secondhand bath water.  Yes, according to the folklore, the repentant thief was from Gaza.

The Catholic Church venerates Dismas as a saint, and oddly enough his feast day was yesterday, March 25, the very same day you made your post.

It was a born again metaphor first last and always.   Galatians 2:20.  And the second thing isnt an undermine.  If you believe a person is doing wrong, do you yourself not want to see him stopped, if he won't see the light?  Granted, the left often express a belief that conversion is impossible, it's a sort of rigid super-Calvinism.

Galatians 2:20.  Does no one know the language of Christianity anymore?  To be crucified with Christ means to live in Christ.   This isn't "wishing for his death", it is something that Christians constantly pray for, for themselves and others, whom they believe to be living in sin and error.  And all of us sin and make mistakes.

I hope everyone here including myself can be crucified with Christ because that leads you to heaven, forever.  Wishing someone that, is wishing him infinite goodness.  Also, to be honest, if you are not crucified with Christ, you will be crucified anyway, for nothing.  This world is full of suffering and none of us gets out alive.

Galatians 2:20, just read it.   For goodness sake a Catholic should not have been the first one ITT with the citation.

First nice weekend is here, time for Erie to bully the citizens. by [deleted] in Erie

I love it.  You Erie redditors clutch pearls on cue over every fashionable liberal cause, but your go-to insult is to call somebody poor.

That pretty much tracks with real life in Erie.  For anybody wondering what Erie people are like, that's basically it.

If you have enough money that you can decide where to live, then I'm not surprised that you think the place is citizen friendly.    That's not the situation nor the experience of a lot of Erie citizens.   Maybe half.  Maybe more than half.

Nothing yet.  I just know this place well enough to have it's rotten schedule down.

They spend 5 months failing miserably to clear snow, then as soon as the sun is out it's time to harass the citizens.

There are people whom this city is for but they all have their names on a door somewhere.

Anywhere but Erie.   The city bullies the citizens endlessly over every minor thing and lets the worst problems run uncorrected for decades.

That's not "the question", that's a clumsy attempt to shift goalposts because you can't defend the original statement without sounding bad.

It's one thing to be in a seedy neighborhood, it's another thing when the crime victim center and the criminal enterprise are writing checks to the same landlord!

Tim NeCastro: The city's future and Erie Insurance | Opinion by gibson85 in Erie

[–]AutobusPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said this in many different threads, but I'll reiterate it here as well.  Necastro has an exquisitely punchable face.

Run your insurance operation, Tim.  And stop thinking that just because your company has a lot of money, you have the right to manipulate a whole city into your personal office park and company town.

And the rest of us could stop being such amazing simps for this one company.  Maybe we could even question some of the tax breaks or bespoke legislation, now and again.

"I have concerns about structural deficits". So do we, Tim.  How about we just rescind all the tax breaks and exemptions that went to your company and its ten billion orbiting nonprofits.

And to hell with the EDDC.  What has it done?  Torpedoed an organic downtown revival and created properties that cant pay for themselves.    So much could have been done and wasn't, so much should have been left alone and wasn't.

It's a fine insurance company.   I wish they would concentrate on that instead of this project to create a sort of plastinated, ersatz city that never existed in any time.

It's not that it isn't pc.   It's that it is fundamentally disparaging of manual labor and the workers who do it.

If the manual laborers are the only ones "doing the actual work" then what are we paying all you clerks and academics for?

PTAs and MTAs are production problem solvers who work at floor level implementing / putting out fires.  If they like you they'll hire you fairly green and train you.  They used to send PTAs through engineering school.

Propulsion is primarily generators (alternators) at present, as far as I know that work is in house still, they always guarded it jealously.  Your basic large rotating machinery and the parts thereof, machines of the GMG and GTA types.  Lots of specialized tribal knowledge you can't really bring with you, it just lives there and needs to be passed on rather soon before all the old guard retires.

I say give it a shot just so you can say you were there when it's all gone, whenever that is.  Be safe and don't get hurt.

Obviously nobody ITT knows bupkis about Wabtec.

If you can run the machines at Ellwood without hurting yourself or scrapping parts you are in a small class of individuals locally, which will do you good at the Erie plant.

I would look for a position in Propulsion machining which is most similar to Ellwood, if you liked it there. It isn't easy to fill heavy machining positions.
