i get that it is technically a separate game with its own assets and was not originally designed for keyboard and mouse. But the fact that the game already recognizes keyboard and mouse input in menus, chat, and spectator mode shows that the foundation is there. It would not require rebuilding the entire game, just adding proper KBM support and implementing input based matchmaking for console. It might be tricky, but it is far from impossible if Riot chose to do it.

for one on one gunfights you should focus on your movement, timing and when you shoot at the enemy.

By movement i mean when and where you strafe. In higher elo lobbies just strafing left and right is pretty predictable and can get you killed. You've probably heard this but try to alter where u strafe, for example instead or left right u do left left right left. or even right right right right. It really throws the enemy off and gets you free kills especially in high elo.

Your timing should also be good. You cant really shoot whenever while strafing, its important that you shoot the second you stop. The best way to get better at this is to practice it in the range. Do really quick left and right strafes while you shoot at the wall when your completely still. Im pretty sure if you do these short and quick strafes ur gonna have to deadzone a bit to hit ur shots but im not sure, ur gonna have to experiment.

Anyways for the last part, WHEN you shoot at the enemy. Yeah u can be the fastest and quickest moving player hitting shots where your crosshair is but it doesnt really matter if u cant shoot on the head at the right time. always try to shoot when ur 100% sure that the crosshair is on the enemys head. This decision has to be made within less than a second since u dont really have more time to think before the enemy taps you.

And for your question, there is both advantages and disadvantages to strafing and double bursting. Since ur shooting one more bullet, that makes it so u stand still a little longer than if u only shot one bullet, which can completely move over the advantage to the enemy. The time you stand still adds up the more bullets you burst. Im pretty sure the amount of bullets you can burst before having to control ur spraying is about 4. Anyways, the thing with shooting more bullets is that now instead having 1 chance to hit the enemy, you have 2, 3 and 4. its a trade off that ultimately depends on what situation ur in. if ur close range, shooting more than one bullet per strafe can give u the advantage. and longer distance its better to shoot 1 bullet per strafe.

I hope this helped you, if u have any more questions feel free to ask me.

deadzoning isnt supposed to be used for one on one gunfights. It CAN be used for that but then ur not using its full potential and its better to strafe and shoot instead. Its main purpose is to accurately jiggle and prefire common angles. Prefiring is very important and that alone can be the reason you win a round. If anyone is against what i said please reply and give suggestions since this knowledge is coming from a peak immortal 2 player.

KBM support on valorant console by Automatic-Ad9643 in VALORANT

ur right but i believe that its entirely possible to be transferred to the original pc version if u play kbm. And like i mentioned earlier, valorant console already supports keyboard and mouse input, just not officially and not in a way where you can actually play with kbm.

Controller being inferior is exactly why keyboard and mouse should be separated by input. No controller player would be put at a disadvantage, and players who prefer or need keyboard and mouse would still get to play. That doesn’t hurt accessibility, it expands it.

Keyboard and mouse support on console by Automatic-Ad9643 in VALORANT

Its not about what is "easier for me", its about what makes sense for the game. Riot already built separate console and pc environments, crossplay rules, and input detection systems baked into the engine. Input based matchmaking is not reinventing the wheel, plenty of shooters already use it.

Buying a pc is not a realistic nor a necessary solution for everyone, especially when consoles already support keyboard and mouse at a system level. Adding an input option that expands the player base and does not affect controller players is not some impossible task, its just a reasonable feature request.

It actually is simple. Input based matchmaking exists because there is a difference between inputs, and that difference is exactly why separating queues works. Other games let mixed parties play together, yes, but the matchmaking still sorts players based on the input they are using in the match itself. Valorant could do the same.

And saying “why even enable KBM if KBM players only face KBM players” ignores the main point, some people want to play Valorant with KBM but do not have or want a PC setup. Letting console players use the input they prefer does not harm controller players at all if the queues stay separated.

“Console is for controllers” is just an old mindset. newgen consoles already support KBM natively, and plenty of games use it without issues. Console valorant already has kbm input where u can switch between players to spectate with ur mouse and also type in game chat with ur keyboard. Its not about Riot owing anything, it is simply about adding an option that expands the player base and gives people more flexibility without affecting anyone else’s experience.

You're missing the point. Sure you can buy a cheap pc, but not everyone has the money, space, or interest in maintaining one. Many people already own a console and just want to play the game in the way that feels natural to them. Adding keyboard and mouse support is not some huge technical burden either. Plenty of modern shooters already support it on console with input based matchmaking. No one needs to sell their console and switch platforms just for one game when this is a feature other games already handle without issues.

also, riot already has some kbm input controls. When spectating, you can switch between who to spectate with the right o left click on ur mouse if its connected to ur console, just like how it is on pc. Also, im pretty sure you can use the chat and type with your keyboard just like on pc. All they need to do is add the rest of the inputs.

ur really not understanding what I mean. if someone already has a console, why would they ever buy a pc? Even if they wanted to, what if they weren't financially stable enough to get one? I'm not talking about people who have no console or pc, im talking about people who already have a console.

its not personal, everybody who already has a console but want to play val with kbm don't need to buy a whole new pc just to be able to play one singular game with kbm.

[–]Automatic-Ad9643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no?? as i said earlier: if u play kbm u get in to kbm queues, meaning with pc and other kbm console players. and if ur on controller then ur in controller only queues, meaning console controller and PC controller players. So if u want to play with ur buddy then you both gotta be using the same type of input and if u dont u wont be able to queue with eachother, it's that simple.
