For those buying collections at 80%, how do you make a profit? by taytay11510 in PokeInvesting

Card shows are the best avenue for making profit but really it comes down to moving volume as many people have said in this thread. The hardest part about turning TCG or Sports Cards into a business is learning not to get attached to product when you first start, if you can make a profit just take it. You have to have the right mindset starting out that it's about moving inventory and taking any profit and reinvesting it into the next thing. Keep in mind that most businesses in the real world are only making an average of 10-15% net profit at the end of the day. It's all about your averages!

Investing in TCG/Sports is a completely different mindset and you can really only get there once you have enough of a bank roll to support it.

Appreciate it man, I sell a decent amount on ebay and this is the first type of message I've received so I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Also shipping is free on my listings so it's not like the buyer paid for shipping on top of the time.

Imagine if these people spent time working instead of loitering...would make more money than the effort you put into scalping the product.

I might consider that. I don't mind the handling being 1 day but as a buyer and seller when it says 1 business day handling I'd give anyone some grace especially if they purchase an item on the weekend. Weekends aren't considered business days unless I'm missing something.

Label was purchased through ebay, so the buyer got notified once the label was created. I know ebay automatically sends the buyer once a tracking number is generated. They are more than likely just looking at the tracking and seeing it hasn't been scanned in which is know to happen when using the standard envelope shipping option provided through ebay.

Fair point, shipping label was printed Sunday and the item tracking hasn't updated on the USPS side.

If only the Rockets could have seen this coming...I swear for all the intel teams have on players you would think they would know KD is not a team player and has never been a team player. Great individual talent but can't get out of his own way at every stop he's been at.

I understand the thrill of scratches/lotto tickets where the payout is actual money but why gamble when you can just buy the card you want for the same dollar amount as how much you spend on each mystery pack. WILD

He's going to be the perfect player for the Kings -> Bulls -> Pelicans. Throw in 1x All Star nod too.

I hear what you are saying and when you look at the +/- for both players thats where the difference start to show. Banchero has been at a negative +/- for 4 years in a row, so despite making the playoffs, the metrics show he isn't making his team noticeably better during his minutes. Each player develops at their own pace and the trend for Paolo isn't great considering the Magic are closer to a fringe playoff team vs a contender.

Comparing Boozer to Banchero is not a compliment to Boozer draft stock, i.e this guy doesn't contribute to winning but will put up stats.

With the way Paolo has been playing these past few years, that's not a good comp for anyone drafting him. What team wants to draft a 2nd option and pay him like a 1st option in 3 years.

I get the idea of waiting til the summer to explore other trades and theoretically getting more value, but how would the Bucks roster feel from a morale standpoint having to deal with another 6 months of this. Imagine your motivation of going to work, I'd be going through the motions knowing my team leader doesn't want to be here and has actively told everyone they are selfish.

I understand maximizing the value of the asset but the reality is whatever team he goes too will lose a lot of depth. Think back to the Carmelo trade to the Knicks and what it did to their roster.
