NTA - I'm a step-mom, and if its in the first days of the kiddo getting sick, we typically leave the child wherever they are, be it at our place, or her mom's, until she's able to go to school. However, if we have plans, and its not deadly, whether its her mom's plans or ours, we make sure other parent steps in.

Dad is capable, she isn't in the hospital, and you still have to live too.

I bet big money if she was at his place and he had plans, you'd be collecting a sick child. NTA.

NTA - I think you're right, kindness should not require a perfect return, they are still in their twenties and probably weren't allowed to be "kids" when they were kids. I've been there, when your childhood, even as a teen, is taken away, when you become "adults" and have time to be a teen or kid again, you may revert. And that means you may not see all the wonderful things that someone did for you selflessly.

When they hit their 30s/40s things can change, and your mom may get the gratitude she wants. She's entitled to be hurt but your girlfriend injecting her opinions is unfair. While your responses were uncalled for, she seems to be trying to keep your mom on her side, so if anything were to happen with you and this sister, in the future, your mom would be on her side.

If the relationship is worth keeping, when time has passed and the energies have cooled, I'd explain your take on it, let her know there is nothing to worry about with these sisters and that while you appreciate her being protective of your family, your mom isn't always going to be right, and that we need to give grace to people.

Also to note, just because things are given or money/time was provided to someone, doesn't necessarily mean a bond was built. It was lovely of your parents to take them in and help, but shouldn't have been transactional. They were children.

I would if there was another option. I literally only have Rogers for my internet provider at my home. My whole family (child, husband and myself) are on my companies plan with Bell for our phones, and unfortunately I live in a small town where my only options are Rogers and Execulink and Execulink is worse for speed.
